The bride usually gives in and buys the brand her husband prefers, a survey shows.

A report on the survey which came up witn tnis man-warming finding was presented today to the annual meeting of the National Association of Food Chains. The study delved into the shopping habits of the nation's 57 million housewives and included a hard look at the buying practices of newlyweds who have an average weekly food budget of $20.43. The new bride as a shopper, said the report, is "serious, stu dious, value-minded, uncertain, responsive, appreciative and proud. "About two-thirds of brands purchased a re the same as mother bought," the study said, but "when bride and groom dis agreethe bride usually surrenders and buys the brand her husband prefers." Other findings: Upper income families buy more than three times as much frozen food and six times as much frozen baked goods as lower income families. They're making a stop-action movie using Dale's model monsters, and with six months' work behind them they figure they're half done.

The movie is about a party of earthmen who land on Venus in a time lapse which finds a superdeveloped Venusian civilization overlapped by dinosaurs. The models can be moved only one-tenth of an inch for each frame of movie film exposed, and it takes seven hours to film a 15-second sequence. Kuipers' compulsion for realism requires such things as a tube inserted into their paunches so they appear to breathe in the finished film. Dale's monsters are made from junk plastic bags, mattress stuffings, clothes hangers, rug padding, onion shoots, thistles, grapevines, linoleum paste, roofing tar, flash bulbs. "They cost me nothing but paint," he says.
