NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) - ·The 31 pupils in Sharon Halm's kindergarten class at Wilbur '.Wright Elementary School.were just settling down for, "Story ;;Time." Michelle Renae Lee, 5', seated on the-floor near the teacher's desk, had iust enrolled in the class Tneday. Next to her was Steven Green well, also 5. Suddenly, glass and bricks sprayed the room as an automobile sailed through a plate glass window and landed ontop of Michelle, Steven and a third youngster. Michelle and Steven died. Elizabeth Sexton, 5, and eight classmates were injured. Police said the auto driver. Frank Burris, 63, of New Castle, ap- parently suffered -a heart attack and lost control of his car. He died en route to'a hospital. Police estimated the car, which landed four feet from Mrs, Halm's desk, was traveling 80'miles an hour as it approached the school. Burris' wife. Alice, who was a passenger in the car, was critically injured. Phil Hall, president of th Arkansas Association of DECA installed the officers. They ar Mark Hanna, president; Rob Morton, vice president; Cozy B a r t l e t t , 'secretary; Kathy Smith, treasurer; Terry Smith reporter; David Laney, parlia mcnlarian and Craig Donau bauer, historian. : The newly installed officer conducted the initiation ceremony for new members. They were assisted by second year members of the chapter. Following t h e initiatoin refreshments were served. Charles Pudlas, D.E. coordinator at the high school, is sponsor of the group. Mauch Elected Dean Mauch, Phillips 66 dealer ;in Fayetteville, has been elected Regional Director for the Gasoline Retailers Associa- ion of Arkansas: The association is a statewide organization headquarters in North Little Rock.
