Death Of Qavam Demanded By Iran Mob Mossadegh Boss Of · Nation; U. S. Butt Of Much Opposition . Tehran, Iran -()- A frenzied mob of 50,000 screamed »new today for the death of fon.er Premier Ahmed Qavam and anti- American feeling rose in Tehran in tht wike of Mohammed Mos- sadegh's latest triumphs at home B and abroad. Mossadegh, renominated premier yesterday by the lower house of Parliament, now appeared un- .disputed boss of Iran as a result of Monday's violent outbreak which swept Qavam from his briefly held seat and yesterday's decision of the International Court · of Justice favoring Iran in its oil dispute with Britain. The anti-American feeling stemmed from growing belief that the "United States had supported Qa- vam, whose announced intention to seek a settlement with Britain had touched off the rioting. Many Iranians aiso were angered that the American judge on the .World Court had voted against the majority ruling upholding Iran's contention that the court had no jurisdiction over the British. Iranian dispute. Mar Be In Cutody The huge crowd jamming the ancient Ark Mosque in Tehran's bazaar section was told today Qa- vam had been arrested but had · escaped immediately after" Unconfirmed reports persisted, however, that he was being held by police south of the capital. . The demonstration memorialized those killed in Monday's clashes between demonstrators and the police and troops. Latest unofficial estimates put that toll at more than 35 dead, p'or hours, long columns of Iranians of all political * leanings and -religions paraded through the city chanting verses of the Koran. One a f t e r another, _ speakers demanded that Qavam be tried and hanged. Leaders proposed t h a t extraordinary courts, made up of students, merchants and shopkeepers, be formed to try Qavam, the 40 deputies who voted for his nomination as premier after Mossa. degh resigned last week, and all officials appointed by Qavam during his three-day tenure as pre- I : lier. j . Hossein .Maki, Mossadegh's righl-hand man, told the crowd 30 I deputies had signed a bill calling for Qavam's arrest and confiscation of his property.
