College 521-1180 Rice Stockpile Expected To Grow WASHINGTON (AP) -- Agriculture Department experts say rice exports will pvooably increase during'' 1974-75 but not enough to hold down a big buildup in the nation's stockpile when another new harvest y e a r begins next Aug. 1. The 1974 rice crop is estimated at a record 113.6 million hundredweight, up 22 per cent from 1973 because ot more icrcs for harvest and higher yields. Coupled with an old-crop carryover of 7.8 million hundredweight when the current crop year began Aug. 1, that means a U.S rice supply for 1974-75 or a record 121.3 million hundredweight. As a result, the department's Outlook and Situation Board said Monday, rice prices have dropped sharply from a record f a r m average of $17.30 last March to $9.G7.in August. The report made no prediction on where rice prices might be in the months ahead. Further, even the export situ ation appears u n c e r t a i n , the re port indicated. Shipments are expected to rise f r o m the 49.7 million hundredweight of last season to 58.1 million or possibly as high as 64.3 million. Thus, the rice stockpile going into the 1975-76 season next Aug. 1 would range between 19 million and 2C million h u n - dredweight, the report showed. (AP) -The Board of Directors ol the East Arkansas Planning and Development District has approved the $20 million renovation plan for Chickasawba Hospital at Blythcville and Osceola Memorial Hospilal. Both hospitals are county-owned. The board has rejected a renovation project for Doctors Hospilal, a private institution at Blylheville.
