(AP) -An agreement of intent to enter i partnership wilh Arkansas Power Light Co. in the proposed White Bluff power plant got the approval of the Jones- fooro Cily Water and Light Board Tuesday. The city would own 5 per cent of the $850 million plant at an estimated cost of $50 million. City officials estimated that Jonesboro would use about HO megawatts of the 2,800 megawatts to be produced by the proposed coal-fired power plant. A power study report from R. W. Beck Associate of Denver, consulting engineers, said entering into the project was the cheapest alternative for Jonesboro to meet its electrical needs past 1980. APL must get approval to construct the proposed plant, which would be built near Redfield in Jefferson County, from the stale Public Service Commission.
