Hearing OR Convicts' Damage Suit Recessed In Mississippi GREENVILLE, Miss. CAP) i -- A hearing on a paralyzed ex- convict's $2 million damage suit was in recess today after testimony from the man who said he inflicted the paralyzing wound. James B. "Slicker" Davis testified Monday that he meant to kill fellow Parchman state prison inmate William II. Do- gard Jr. in 1972 when he stabbed him in the spine. But he said his knife broke off in Bogard's back and he was unable lo stab again. Bogard lived but was paralyzed from the waist down. He is suing former prison officials and others for damages.
