Choice Recipes ·jr CECILY BBOWNfttONE Shrimp" And Tomato Sauce With Spaghetti; Ingredients; 2 ·tablespoons butter or margarine. 2/3 cup thin, strips onion(1.medium-size); 1 tablespoon f 1 o u r, 2 chicken bouillon cubes, 2 cups boiling water, one can (about b ounces) tomato paste, 1/4 teaspoon sugar, Ii8 -teaspoon crushed dried basil, dash of ground cloves, 1 bay leaf, 1 clove garlic, salt and freshly ground pepper, 1 pound shrimp (cooked and cleaned), 8 ounces thin spaghetti (cooked). . ; Method: In medium-sized sauce* pae over low.heat melt butter; add onion strips 'and cook, stirring often,'until limp and yellowed--' about- 5, minutes,. Stir, in flour. He- movc ..ironV. beat: Stir... bouillon cubes; iii-iboilihz water until dissolved^ add gradually to onion mixture, stirring with a whisk, after each' addition until sauce is smooth. Return to moderately'low .heat'and'stir constantly until bub T bly.-Add'tomato paste, sugar, bc«l, cloveSj bay leaf; and pressed..t*r. rniriccd garlic.. Allow to .bubble gently, stirring often, until: somewhat; thickened . and reduced-- ·bout 15 to -20 minutes. (There about 1% to 2 cups sauce).- Echiove 'bay leaf. Add salt and pepper to taste--sauce, tastes best with' pienty.-of .pepper; If .shrimps are large cut In two lengthwise and add. Reheat gently, stirring a few times. Arrange hot cooked drained spaghetti .'on medium- sized .platter; pour shrimp.and sauce' over center; serve at once. Makes 3-'servings. . -.- · Peanut Butter Refrigerator Cookies ; Ingredients: 1% cups sifted flour, ; .}4 teaspoon baking soda, % teaspoon salt, H cup chunk- style peanut' butter, U4 cup shortening, 1 .cup firmly packed brown si'gar, 1 egg. 1-4.cup evcrorated milk. -Method: Sift flour, baking soda and salt'together.. In large bowl, .cream peanut butter, shortening and brown sugar; beat in egg.' Blend in sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Shape dough into 2 rolls, about 6 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. Roll in waxed paper,, twisting' ends,, and chill overnight in refrigerator. Cut into 1-8-inch .slices.
