14 · Northwest Arkansas TIMES, Tuos,, Sept. 10, 1974 FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS Charles Learning LONDON (AP) -- Prince Charles, already a qualified aircraft pilot, has begun a 3 : monlh course lo learn to fly a helicopter. The 25-year-old heir to the British throne was up for a half-hour flight Monday at the fleet air arm's headquarters at Yeovilloii in southwest E land. ' The helicopter course Includes 38 hours of dual flying, 15 hours solo and 53 hours of ground training. Lonely Girl Pretends To Have Many Friends EEKiliHM^ ·Jy HELEN AND SUE BOTTEL When I was little, I used to ring home lots of valentines rom school -- all signed by iifferent kids. Except they were ill signed by me. That was how got started fooling my parents nto thinking I was very poplar. You see, they always igured I would be the best in my class in every way, and hated lo tell them I was best mly in grades. B u t ' the kids ust ignored me. I'd go to parlies or out to he playground on weekends and tell Mom how much fun I had--which I didn't! When my me girlfriend called up, I'd pretend to my folks she · was different people. Dad isn't well, so I had an excuse for n o t iringing a bunch of kids home vith me. I'd tell them about how 1 danced every dance at the junior high dances, (ha!) anc [.even invented a "boyfriend, 1 knowing Mom wouldn't let me date, so I wouldn't have lo pro dnce him. (She was popular in school, and takes it for grantee I will be.) A lot of times I cried mysle to sleep out of loneliness. I'm scared to talk to boys--and tin girls still mostly ignore me. I'm not bad looking, just dull, guess. Not like Mom and Dad who are the greatest. Now that I'm sixteen. Mom says I can date, and she's ex peeling me to--she figures a" hose guys I talked about ar ust standing in line! I can't let my folks down Vhat'll I do? - LONELY LIAR L. A'bout 120 off-duty, firemen had participated in the picketing Thursday and Friday, but the number fell to about 25 Monday. . . Capt. John Uekman, president of Local 34 of the International 'Associalioin of Firefighters, said the picketing would continue at least through Wednesday and possibly the rest of the week. The firemen have said the picketing is the first phase of iclions intended to persuade the city to grant them salary equal to that of city policemen. That request would require raises of about 10 per cent. In the second phase, Uekman las said, the firemen would respond to calls, but would not perform other duties such as maintaining stations and equipment. * SHE'S OKAY 10 . . .
