Sawyer said yesterday on NBC's Meet The Press television program that he had asked McGrath to investigate surplus, ships deals involving Morris more than six months before McGrath named Morris as cleanup boss. McGrath recently testified before a House Judiciary subcommittee he knew nothing of Morris' ship deals when he apopintcd him in February, 1952, as .his special assistant in . an .inquiry into charges of corruption in government.
