Elsenhower's sweep in New Hampshire has cut sharply into Sen. Robert A. Taft's early lead in delegate strength for the Repub- licin national convention. Fourteen delegates r u n n i n g on Ihe Eisenhower ticket won in New Hampshire yesterday b l a n k i n g the Taft delegates. This ^ave Eisenhower a total of 35 delegates pledged or favorable to his c n n d i - dacy for, the Republican nomination for president. Taft has 39 pledged or favorable to him, With the New Hampshire pri- r r i a r y ' o u t of the way, 77 nominating delegates have been chosen i on the Republican side and 30 on the Democratic. Of the Democratic 30, President Truman has 12 and Serator Estes Kefauve'r of Tennessee eight. Ten are uninstructed or unannounced. Kefauver won all eigh* of his delegates votes in the New Hampshire primary, first in the nation. . To nominate at the Chicago conventions, a Republica,. candidate must win 603 of the 1,205 delegates arid a Democratic candidate 616 of the 1,230 delegateF. Obituary Mra. Birdie B: Rcnfre * Rogcrs-(Special)-Funeral services for Mrs. Birdie B. Ecnfro, retired Avoca postmaster who died at her home Sunday, were conducted at 2 p. m. yesterday at the Callison-Porter Chapel by the Rev. Norman Jasper of Springdale. Shilling, 71, died at his home in Springdale, Monday, night. He came to Springdale from Chicago, 111., where he was a retired salesman of railroad parts for the Pet- tabone-MulIikan ' Company. Mr. Shilling was born at Auburn, Ind., October 8, 1881, the son of the late ' Lyman Benton and Elizabeth Johnson Shilling. Hn was a member of the First Church of Christian Science. .
