BLOCK PHONE 133 Two Candidates In Benlon County Announce Bcntonviile- (Special)- Benlon County Treasurer,' Powell Henderson, announced this morning thai he is "a candidate for reelection. Ray Jefferson, deputy tax collector, announced that he will seek the office of county collector to succeed George Eld-red, who is running for county judge. Henderson,. a veteran of si: years in the Marine Corps, is seeking his second term as county treasurer. He is married nnd has one child. Jefferson has served as deputy tax collector for the past four years. During World War 'II he served ,four and one- half years in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. He entered the Army as a . private and was discharged a second lieutenant. Both men are members of' the VFW, the American Legion and the Presbyterian Church. Clyde Duncan,, a well known farmer, filed for . the office of county clerk yesterday. Duncan had previously announced that he would oppose the incumbent, Mrs. Ruth Wharton, who seeks reelec- .ion.
