'The most romantic thing a coli- ple can do is dunce," Cower said. '.'There's no other way they can Kct so close. To me, there's no nicer sight than to sec a middle- aged couple enjoying themselves while dandiiK. I sec no reason why pair can't have fun on a dance floor, no mailer how long they have been married." Remind! Of Dance Schools I suggested (hat many a husband's foxtrot, my own Included, might well be considered grounds for divorce in itself. 'There arc plenty of dance schools that could cure that," Cower replied. "The investment uould reap a handsome payment In m a r i t a l happiness." A l t h o u g h they spend a good many of their workday hours dancin/i, the champions filill like to f l i t around the dance floor when Ihcy g o . o u t at night. I enjoy nothing more," said Marge. But there arc certain hazards," her Ir.sband added. "I like to dnnci! In public like a normal individual. But often at parties we I start dancing and the otlicr dancers w i l l stand aside and expect us to go . Into some fancy routine, I always prefer to dance with Marge when we're out. Because if I dance with some other girl, she's Invariably disappointed. They always say, 'How come he's so famous as a dancer? He dances just like any other man!' " Deplore Lack Of Interest The champions deplore the general lack of interest in dancing on the part of the general public. This extends even (o the youngsters, whose ciders were wild about doing the bunny-hug and cutting rugs in their youth. Kids nowadays have little of the enthusiasm for dancing that was evidenced in other eras. This Is brought .about partly by the decline in the band business. "Also, there, have been no now dance crazes that have lasted," Ciower added. "Although a Ipt of people still' square dance, It has faded as a fad. The Charleston didn't last very long. "For another thing, you don't h ive the Inspiration that Astalre and Rogers created for ballroom dunclng with their pictures, There are lots of good dancers on the screen today, but most of the* dance alone, and their dancing is rrorc the athletic type." The two may help to relieve that situation. They arc co-slarring in "Everything I Have Is Yours," in which they will be doing plenty of hoofing together. Washington-VI'j-A proposal by Representative Trimble (D-Ark) for a new method of financing federal buildings is over one legislative hurdle. A bill embodying Ihc idea has been 'approved by a House Public Works Subcommittee lyid is to be acted on soon by Ihc f u l l committee. So far as Trimble knows, there is no opposition to the measure. Trimble's idea is, simply, that private interests build federal office buildings where they arc loected and the government lease .hern. Lease payments would be テつキjpplied toward purchase of the Buildings and, after 25 years, title would pass to the government. Trimble contends that his plan has these advantages: 1. The government could get he office buildings and post of- 'ices it needs without the long delay of waiting for .appropria- ions. 2. The government would save money in many cities because ease payments on a new, well ilanned office building would bo less than rents paid for office space scattered throughout a city. 3. Private interests would have a place for investing capital where they would get a fair return with no risk. . The .government eventually, would own the buildings and save even more in rentals. 5. .Construction of the buildings would provide considerable employment. Trimble said insurance companies, for instance, could invest buildings and get a return of about 2.75 per cent. Such interests, he said, favor his plan. Quirino Sheared Of Emergency Powers Manila -(IF)- T h e -Philippines House of Representatives voted- last night 39 to 11 to shear President Eipidio Quirino of his emergency powers. The bill now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to pass. Quirino has threatened a veto unless he is given sufficient emergency pcnver to deal with the Communist-led Huk outbreaks and what he called the threat of a world war. Marriages C. C.
