Eagle Scouts To Be Honored Ceremonies At The - White House Port Of Observance President Truman, members of Congress, governors and national representatives of organizations 1 and institutions throughout America that sponsor Boy Scout units, will share in ceremonies during Boy Scout "Week, February 6 to . 12, launching a new three-year · program known as "Forward . . . j On Liberty's Team," Boy Scout Week marks the 42nd birthday of the organization. Twelve outstanding Eagle Scou« chosen to represent the more than 2,900,000 members of the organization, will share in ceremonies at the White House when President Truman greets them at 12:45 p. m., on Friday, February 8. Mr. Truman, as honorary president of the Boy Scouts of America, is to receive a scroll stating the broad objectives of. the new program. At a breakfast '- Washington with nearly 100 leaders from the cabinet, the Senate House of Representatives and national organizations, the 12 selected Eagle Scouts will dramatize Scouling's part in meeting the problems of these limes. The Scouts will tell what the entire membership of the organization will do next fall in their major activity of getting out. the vote in the national elections. The three-year program re-emphasizes clean living, outdoor activities and preparedness for daily living. The Scouts will strengthen the use of its patrol system in order to train boys for citizenship in a democracy. This gives boys tho experience of living cooperatively with each other. Scout officials sense a need for more citizens who can stand on their fret nnd t h i n k for themselves.
