LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- The slate Nursing Board said Thursday that, to its knowledge, no cheating or copying occurred during a nurses' examination Wednesday. If a breach of security did occur, the board said, it was before the exam began. Deputy Ally. Gen. Bill D. Etler, counsel for the board, said, 'There is some suspicion that at least one and possibly more of the examinees had access to 11 or part of the questions from the exam prior to the time of the examination, whether inadvertently or intentionally." Etter also said all of the examinees were allowed to complete the test and that, although the board has the matter under investigation, there is no suspect. Thessa Wooley of Pine Bluff said some of the proctors and two off-duty Little Rock policemen acting as security guards had threatened 18 Filipino nurses after some notes for tha exam were found in the purse of one nurse. Mrs. Wooley, the group's spokeswoman, said one nurse here had taken the exam- nation in Illinois when she ap- )lied for a job and then rc- ,urned and told the others, in a general way, what the test con- ,ained. Inspector Kenneth Pearson said the Little Rock Police Department was involved in investigating the allegations about the two policemen, but bad reached no conclusion as of BARELY LIVED IN 4 month young 3 bdrm and den 2Va bath brick on Stanton Ave, with custom made draperies, pret- ' " ty , throughout and all the DAY I S 1617 N. The woman, knowing no papers or books could be carried in or out of the room, tried to give the notes to a proctor, he said. But since the girl did not speak. English clearly, the proctor did not understand her, and she put the notes in her purse, Ettec said. The girl did not realize until the proctor examined the notes that they contained questions "verbatim" from the examination, Etter said. The woman, Theresa Nativite, is employed at Jefferson Hospital in Pine Bluff. Etter said Miss Nalivite was found innocent by the board and that no evidence indicated (hat she had done anything'im- proper. (AP) -- Mujphy Oil Corp.'s consolidated earnings began to decline in the second quarter of 1974 from the unusually high peak of 25.4 million attained in ;tho 'irst quarter of this year, com- ny officials said. But second quarter earnings were "substantially · improved over the second quarter , of 1973," officials said. :· Earnings the second quarter were $17.9 million, equal : to a common and common equivalent share before a special charge for an accounting change by a subsidiary company. In the second quarter of 1972, restated earnings were $11.7 million, or SI.01 a share. · ; Second quarter earnings'im- provements this year resulted from a wider margin between product prices a n d estimated costs in the eastern hemisphere. Other factors included strong demand for the company's enlarged fleet of off- ihore drilling rigs, substantially ligher natural gas production and better prices for crude oil, and refined products in the United States and Canada. . .
