(AP Wire- photo) Saudis To Invest Oil Money In US. TAIF. Saudi Arabia (AP) -Saudi Arabia prabably will invest a major portion.of its oil wealth in the United States, the Saudi oil minister said Saturday. Sheik Ahmed Zaki Yamani said Americans need not fear that the Saudis will buy up American industries with their billions of dollars in surplus funds. ' : i Saudi Arabia is the Middle Bast's major exporter of oil. Yamani said in an interview his government is considering investing in special U.S. ·gov- ernment securities. Besides the special securities, he said the Saudis might also invest in the U.S- stock market. But' he said they have no current interest in buying real estate. Yamani estimated that Saudi Arabia will have a minimum of $17 billion in surplus oil funds that,.it..£annbt; spend at home this year.'But he noted that not all Saudi investment would be in the United States.
