The Bruins have lost three. At Los Angeles, Oregon State college, in third place in conference standings though defeated twice, will take on Southern California's badly-battered Trojans, and for the first time in years the Beavers will be favored. USC has lost three games. University of Idaho's strong Vandals were given the edge over omega at Spokane in a non-conference game. The Santa Clara Broncos will risk their unbeaten and untied record against the mediocre St.

The Pelicans were on the defense through moat of the game; they did get an occasional attack underway, but invariably were stopped before working very far into Bend territory. Yancey did get a few passes away, but interceptions by Bend eventually stopped every Pelican aerial Mayer scored tbree of Bend's touchdowns. The first came after only a few moments of play. Klamath kicked off to start the game.

electing to attempt an onside dick. The effort fizzled as a Bend player grabbed the bail and ran it back into Klamath territc on the first play. Almost immediately Bend was off toward the goal line. A pass. Dyer to Lidstrom, carried the ball close to the 9-yard line.

Klamath stiffened. but alter a few plays Lidstrom crashed through for the first score. An attempt to run the ball over for the extra point failed. Glovanini Intercepts Olovanini shortly thereafter stopped another Bend thrust by intercepting a long pass, but soon the Bears were again knocking at the Klamath goal. Dyer carried the ball most of the time on this march.

which placed the pigskin on the one-yard line when the 'quarter ended. On the next play Bend fumbled, but recovered. Then Mayer cracked through for a touchdown. Again the try for point failed. Punt Blocked Late in the third quarter Klamath's' attack again began to click.

Giovanini crashed through for a first "down. and Anderson soon followed with another. A fumble cost the Pelicans five yards. and Huff's punt was blocked. Bend recovering on the Klamath 29.

The Bears were wild-eyed for another touchdown. They smashed off tackle and around the ends. I excellent blocking paving the way to the goal line. Mayer went through, and a drop-kick gave the Bears their only point after touchdown. Near Score The fourth quarter found Bend again working far into Klamath territory, Mayer finally scoring on a 20-yard punch.

Several Bend reserves were in the line-up. The desperate Pelicans again opened an aerial attack, and Yancey's pass to Green was good for a long gain. Another pass was almost good for a touchdown, but Green dropped it. On succeeding tries, Yancey was rushed badly by the Bend linesmen, one pass was knocked down, and a second intercepted by Dudrey of Bend. The play was called back.

Yancey tried it again, and Dudrey repeated his interception. That ended Klamath offense for the afternoon. Bend was stopped on another march. Klamath took the ball, but was far back against its own goal line when the gun ended the struggle. Wind Rages Bend made 13 first downs to Klamath's six.

It, was a great triumph for Bend, and great disappointment to Klamath, which last year ruined the Lela Beare record with a tie when they were believed atate championship-bound. The Bears are rated as the state's strongest prep school title contenders at this stage of the game. and may play Oregon City and Salem to settle the matter definitely. Thursday's ball game was played under the most frigid conditions but the field was dry. A biting wind howled across the gridiron, and once the ball was Whalen hero boon known to Ilso 500 years.

I Modoc Gas, Oil Wysocki Scores Two Touchdowns HENLEY DEFEATS BONANZA 6 TO 0 Henley high school upset the previously undefeated Bonanza eleven at Bonanza Thursday by a score of 6 to 0 on a Held swept by a high gale. The Henley defense held Bonanza to three first downs. The lone Ouchdown was scored In the second quarter but Henley appeared on the way to another tally as the final gun sounded. The Klamath boys were the first to score. Quarterback Bob Lowe went through center in the first quarter to give the Cats a 6-0 lead. In the second period a run. ning attack brought the ChiloQuin team deep into Wildcat territory.

A pass, Greer to Rice, tied the score. The Chiloquin try for the extra point was good. A pass and 45-yard run brought Klamath the goal that gave them the winning margin. Receiving the ball deep in their own territory the Cats ran It back to the Chiloquin 45. There Bob Lowe got off a nice toss to Bob Anaker who galloped 45 yards for the touchdown.

The win over Chiloquin concluded the most successful year that the Wildcats have had in recent years. Under the of "Pete" Peterson the "crazy sophs" have won five and lost one game.
