of of of of of of of of of of of of 6 obituaries Mable Schmidt BEL AIR Mable Bridges Schmidt of Bel 001 Air died Monday, Feb. 20, 1984 at Fallston General Hospital. She was 64. Born in Tennessee on 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Bridges. Mrs.

Schmidt is survived daughter, Donna Hi. Akers; four 1 brothers, James Bridges of Honeybrook, E. Eugene Bridges of Flora, John Bridges of Upperco, and Charles R. Bridges of Federalsburg; three sisters, Lena B. Cockrell of Kenly, N.C., Louise B.

Ireland of Easton, and Joyce B. Pearce of Raleigh, N.C. Two brothers, Floyd W. Bridges and Fred. W.

Bridges Jr. and a sister, Onedia B. Hunley, are deceased. Funeral services were held at E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, Kingsville, Md.

on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Burial was at Bel Air Memorial Gardens. Robert P. Dean Payne Dean of Anchor Rest Farm, Centreville, died Wednesday, at his home.

He was 74. Born April 9, 1909 in Ridgely, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Maude Jones Dean. Mr. Dean graduated from Ridgely High School in 1927 and from Washington College in 1931 with a B.A.

degree. Then he began his 10-year seafaring career with the Isthmian' 'Steamship Company in He rose through the ranks from seaman to captain with the Merchant Marine. Sept. 7, 1940, he married Miriam Bishop. They have farmed in the 6th District of Queen Anne's County.

Mr. Dean soon became an influential figure in political affairs in the county. He was nominated for the Democratic ticket for state senator and served Queen Anne's' County from January 1955 He was reappointed after reapportionment. for four more years. In all, he served 16 years in the Maryland Senate before retiring in 1971.

He served on numerous including Judicial Proceedings, Finance, Banking and 1 Insurance, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries. He was a member of. the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association and was an avid collector of steam and marine engines. He was past president and a director of the Centreville Rotary Club and a member of the Queen Anne's County Farm Bureau. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Frances Dean Roschy of Havre de Grace; two brothers, Charles T.

Dean of Denton and John Dean of Wilmington, and two grandchildren, Dean and Anne Roschy. Funeral services will be held at the Hillsboro-Queen Anne United Methodist Church, where he was a board member, on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. The Rev, Alfred E. Taylor, pastor of the church, and the Rev.

John W. VanTine of the Oxford United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro. Pallbearers will be Charles T. Bishop, Charles T.

Robert Barton, P.O. Box 400, Centreville, Md. 21617. Lucile Cochran EASTON Mary Lucile Cochran of RD 6, Easton, a retired administrator and registered nurse, died at Memorial Hospital at Easton on Thursday, Feb. 23, 1984.

She was 86. Born in Butler County, Oct. 15, 1897, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Van and Ada Wright Cochran. A registered nurse, she had been associated with the D. T.

Watson Home for Crippled Children in Leetsdale, Pa. for 42 years, retiring in 1967 as the institution's administrator. After retiring she moved to Talbot County, living first in the Royal Oak area and then Easton. Miss Cochran is survived by a sister, Helen C. Mason of Easton, and several nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are by the Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. of Queenstown, a retired fire boat mate, died Thursday, Feb: 23, 1984 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 85. Born Aug.

5, 1898 in Holland, Mr. Disney retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department in 1962 after 32 years service. He was a member of the Retired Fire Officers and Firefighters Association and the Liberty Lodge from which he received a 50-year pin this year. He was a member of the Baltimore Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He had served with the U.S.

Navy in World War I and as a Chief Boatswain's Mate with the Coast Guard during World War II. Charles Bell STEVENSVILLE Charles Alton Bell of Bay City, Stevensville, a retired railroad foreman, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1984, at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was Born July 22, 1905, in Baltimore, he was the son of Charles E. and Anna Cooksey Bell. Mr.

Bell retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1967 after working for the company in Baltimore for 40 years as a maintenance of way foreman. He was a member of the Island Idlers. His wife, Anna Mae Green Bell, died Jan. 18, 1983. He is survived by a daughter, Mary W.

Lang of Stevensville; three sisters, Margaret L. Thiele Batlimore, Hazel M. Hauff of President's Day Sale Friday and Saturday only Carney and Clara R. Pitt of Columbia, and two grandsons, Brian K. Lang and Craig S.
