As at the three previous meetings, there were three candidates each receiving one ballot. Mr. Steams said to a reporter that he was in favor of uniting with either of the other judges upon some person who did not desire the office, and who would resign soon as appointed. Then it wonM be the duty of tbe county judge to appoint some one to fill the vacancy the next election, when the people of the third district would be aMe to elect their own commissioner. He thought that this would be the easiest way to tie the matter.

we wouHbeln a pretty box. For my part I cannot see what people can gain by tuis lawless method of procedure. I-am sure that Mr. Monroe had nothing whatever to do with the failure of Miner's Exchange, and how they can be benefited by making a pauper of Mr. Monroe is beyond my power of comprehension.

In the first place they do not injure Mr. Monroe much as they injure themselves, and alt this persecution is simply because tbey want Mr. Monroe totellthem through tbe press the whereabouts of Mr. Miner. I do not tiiink Mr.

Monroe knows, any more than do, the whereabout of Mr. Miner, and even If be did and should tell them, what benefit would that be to them? There no existing law that could bring Miner back to Dunkirk, and was it would not bring that money back. Now, fellow citizeni feeling toward Mr. Monroe is all wrong, and ft you will only take a sober second thought you wilt see it as as do, and try to prevent this baa feeling, instead of giving ft encouragement. I have knmm Mr-Monroe a good many years, and I think he is one of Dunkirk's very beat cittaeos.

He made his mooey in Dunkirk and here is where he uses it. I think he a very public spirited man. Look at the bulldogs lie erected--you might say--for be benefit of the public! It others of oar moaied men bad done as muck as Mr. Monroe for tbe city of Dunkirk, we would have a fir different looking city ban we now have. Mr.

Monroe would scorn to do an injury to or lay a straw in he way of aoy man. I have no personal nterest in this matter as far as tbe welfare of the city of Dunkirk ia concerned, wad I would like to bear from others on this same subject. Yours Truly. W. S.
