Five Baseballers Scheduled o Enter Hall of Fame Today By ORLO ROBERTSON NEW YORK (AP) — Baseball's Hall of Fame, now numbering 70 members, is expected to be increased by two and perhaps as many as five today when the ballots are counted fii the 14th annual election. The ballots, cast by some 300 members of the Baseball Writers Assn. of America, have been under lock 'and key in Commissioner Ford: Prick's office. So there is no indication or how many will be honored. At Least Five But on the basis of last year's election, at least five figure to hove a chance to have their names engraved on a plaugue which will hang in the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, N. Y. Rules of the election require that a player's name be on 75 per cent of the ballots. And under a new rule, in effect for the first time this year, a player must have been out of organized ball at least five years. Why they stayed behind i» * small part of the profound migration mystery which has for 15 years haunted Dr. William Rowan, head of the University ol Alberta's zoology department. Lesi Discomfort Dr. Rowan, a. leading Canadian wildlife expert, said yesterday that the wayward fowl suffers less discomfort — even in 60-below-zero weather — than the weather-wise woodsman. Providing the ducks can find open water and food, they have as good a "deal" on the prairie as elsewhere. Dr. Rowan said this odd behavior appears to have some connection with the presence of "abnormal plumage,' the birds having failed to molt. Late arrival of the winter confused the migration schedules. Many ducks often remain until late in the year, Rowan noted, but relatively few hardy specimens elect to sit out the entire winter. Rocky Marciano's title.
