Best Stock of Groceries In the City ii art wciianner iviarx To Whom It May Concern: In' last evening's editor of tha Lead Dally Register appeared a distorted account of an effort on my part to as sist a young man, In response to a request made by bis mother. The story as it is printed In the Register refers to me as a "Homestake procurer." Aside from the absolute in-dency of the language used, the impression is left with the reader that I am employed by the Homestake company as an agent, whose business it is to secure signers for the company list This intimation is nothing more nor less than a plain unvarnished falsehood, fully in keeping wlh the large majority of statements made by the editor of the Register, as the truth in the matter that he has chosen to wilfully misrepresent will make clear.

At the earnest request of Mrs. Brelsford, contained in a communication to me, I spoke to her son relative to making application for cm ployment under the new condition. The request was made solely as a favor to Mrs. Bfelsford and in the hope of being of some assistance to the young man, who it appears has been too thoroughly intimidated by socialist leaders, to know what Is best for himself. My action needs no apology, and I make this statemen merely to put the public in possession of the truth, which is not permitted to appear in the Register account of the Incident.
