Elaine Rate of Males Scientists than women, they, also may expose themselves ymore to such diseases as tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, pneumonia, and influenza.

"One important difference between the sexes is in their response to strain and' stress of today's high speed, high pressure life. Women may perhaps ease or avoid the consequences of worry, frustration and despair through tears or occasional hysterics. Men, on the other hand, seem more likely to Internalize these stresses at the price cf coronary disease, hypertension, or ulcers." Women Take More Care Also women take better care of themselves. What's public health officials pay more attention to them. "They are known to 'nurse mild illnesses in a precautionary, preventive way," which men don't do.

Many more doctors specialize in the diseases of women than of men. Nevertheless, none of these rea sons or all of them seem explanation enough. "Something ought and could be done for the male, especially the middle-aged and older male by himself, the medical profession, and public health agencies," the laboratories said. 'Concentrated study and research should seek causes behind men's rising mortality." 23 Trout Prove To Be Costly For Angler ROCKVILLE. Conn.

The boys and girls and the schools to which they have been assigned are listed below. Stu-dent may determine which school they are to attend by locating their name on this list. Officials said that in making the division, an has been made to keep all members of one family in the same location. "This may not have been pos-' sible in all circumstances because of the overcrowded conditions existing in the second and third grades. It will be necessary for some of the students in these two grades to ride the bus as far as Central School.

A bus will serve all areas that were served last year with specific runs at Battle Creek, Locust Avenue and the area west of the highway, etc." Until sidewalks to the Grove-crest School are completed, the mayor and city council have appointed several auxiliary policemen to be posted along First East during school hours. Playground equipment has been shipped for the Grovecrest School. Blacktopping will be completed soon and plans are under way for installation of an auto-l Higher Death Intrigues U. S. By DELOS SMITH United Press Science Editor NEW YORK (UP) Scientists and all men have been called upon to solve a riddle whiph will strike you as both per sonal and urgent if you are mas culine of sex.

It is: "What is kill ing off the males?" The solution is sought by the Abbott Laboratories, which feels untimely deaths among males are now so freouent that "nature's obvious aim at keeping the sexes In numerical balance may yet be endangered." "If you are a male between the ages of 15 and 74, your day by day chances of dying are, at least 50 per cent greater than those of your female counterpart in the same age bracket," it told the na tion's physicians. "Yet," it added, "in 1920, you would have been much more near ly on even terms with her. The statisticians have been busily seeking out the reasons for what has been fading the male, "but a really convincing answer has yet to be found." fc Women's Death Rate Cut Now, take diseases in which worry, overwork, and emotional tensions seem to have a part those of the cardio-vascular systems and ulcers. Among women, the death rate from these causes -hi'-, declined sharply when compared to the period between 1921 and 1926. But for men, has increased sharply.

The big question Is. why? "Women may be biologically more resistant -to diseases and death than men," the laboratories said without elaborating on why they apparently have become more so in recent gene ations if that is the answer. "Whether men contract infectious and communicable diseases more easily and frequently, or are simply less resistant to them, has not yet been established. Aggressive Males "Their greatest venereal disease rate, alcohol addiction and tendency "to homicide and accidents "may be explained by their greater aggressiveness and lack of caution.
