Ira Blackshare of 2444 S. Mount Zion Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a brunch for family and friends. Mr. Blackshare and Syble Ethridge were married Sept 23,. 1938, in Piggott, Ark.

He is retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. They are the parents of Mrs. 1 Dean (Artie) Hamilton of Mowea-qua, Gary Blackshare of Springfield, and Jerry Blackshare of Wood Ridge. They have four grandchildren. Five generations Tyler Matteson, 5 months, is held by his great-great-grandmother, Irene Reining, 97, of Jacksonville, in this photograph taken when five generations of the family gathered recently.

He is the pastor of North Alton Southern Baptist Church. She is a library technician with the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, St Louis, Mo. They are the parents of Atina Sue Snyder of Godfrey, Trent James Rice of Bethalto and Todd E. Rice at home.

By BOB FALLSTROM Herald Review Lifestyle Editor LOVINGTON For George and Fanny Plank, the numbers 90 and 70 add up to a celebration. George observed birthday No. 90 on July 25. On Monday, George and Fanny observe wedding anniversary No. 70.

Then Fanny turns 90 on Tuesday. George and Fanny live in rural Lovington, their home for the last 40 years. They were married Oct 3, 1918, in Arthur. "I've never met anybody married for 70 years," George notes. Fanny Herschberger was working as a hired girl on a farm near Arthur when they met and married, George recalls.

They moved to Indiana (near Kokomo) in 1920, then returned in 1935 to Illinois, living on a farm near Arthur. When he was 45, George suffered a stroke. He recovered sufficiently and was a clock and watch repairman for 35 years. Now he enjoys a morning cup of coffee with the gang at the Dutch Oven in Arthur. She married Charles E. Gordon April 24, 1911. as a sewing Estella Gill room supervisor and as an adult education supervisor. "She's always been busy, busy, busy," Dorothy notes, "particularly in the Green Thumb (gardening) program." Estella is also a long-time member of Decatur First Church of God in Christ. Born near Waco, Texas, Estella came to Decatur to join her sister, Maggie Alexander.
