The fare at the Ramsdell this summer will include musicals, comedies, classics and melodrama- The season opens with Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel" nnd also will include "You Can't Take 11 With You," "The Tavern," "Write Me a Murder," "John Brown's Body," Shaw's "Caesar and Cleopatra," and finally a musical spoof which will close the season, "Little Mary Sunshine." In addition to their regular presentations, the Summer Theatre will present four plays for children, "The Wizard of Oz, Die Red Shoes," "Robin Hood" and "Mr. Dooley, Jr." Children's plays are staged on Monday afternoons, each play running for two consecutive Mondays. Today the original decor is still intact although faded somewhat, and the theater itself is still one of the most completely equipped to be found anywhere. The stage has six elevator traps and three disappearance traps, a 75-foot grid and a 52-foot paint frame.

The stage house is 85-foot high and is the second tallest in the country, being exceeded only by the Metropolitan Opera House. Manistee's Ramsdell Opera House the lumbering industry waned and In addition Uie dressing rooms, building houses prop rooms and the Opera House lots its best patrons and finally was forced to close. The building was presented to the city and the ballroom and lounge were converted into a civic center with the theater being used for movies. But when sound pictures came in the Ramsdell was unsuilcd for them and again the (heater went dark. In the early Fifties a group of civic-minded citizens decided that the theatre should be opened again, so with mops and brooms and paint they went work on the theatre and in 1951 opened for a season of summer stock.

Under an agreement with the Manistcc city commission, the local group been modernized and overhauled, care being taken to preserve the original decor and flavor of the theater. Most of the improvements have gone backstage, the Infest of them being a complete new light board. The basement dressing rooms were re-floored and showers installed, new carpeting added lo the floors of the auditorium and spring scats were installed on the main floor. In addition to summer stock the Manistcc Drama Association also sponsors the Civic Players who present two or three plays during the winter with the profits being invested' in the theatre. The summer stock company, this year will be under the auspices of Announcing: 1963 Season Schedule Directors: Jane Foote Albert Zolton MANISTEE SUMMER THEATRE Ramsdell Theatre, Manistee Nurses Honor Miss Langfeldf PBNTWATER Miss Josephine Langifelt RN, for 28 years superintendent of Oceana Hospital previous to her retirement in 1952, was honored by Oceana District Nurses Association at their me el- ing at her home in Riverton township Tuesday evening.

Working out their program 'along the lines of "This Is Your Life." the nurses, assisted by guest nurses who had been associated with Miss Langfeldt during her many years of service in the Hart hospital, recalled the history of the hospital, incidents which happened during the early years and some events of Miss Langfelt's outstanding career as nurse and hospital executive. She was the hospital's first superintendent of its opening in 1924 often took over the duties of housekeeper, cook and other tasks in addition to her work as nurse and superintendent. Timmons at a hospital in Flint after an illness of several months.
