open until eight o'clock in tire evening to enable and laboring ine? to rote without infringing upon their working hours, has been in the assembly by party rote. The refusal of the republican party to extend this privilege to the working classes is significant. An amendaient bj Mr Walsh to open tne polls at six o'clock the morning and keep them open until sundown was also defeated by a party vote. RAISING WOLVES. The report of the wolf bounty law and the consequent agitation of that subject, has brought to light some interesting disclosures.

ft is reported that a resident of Dane county kept a male and female wolf for the ptopa-. gation of whelps, for the scalps of which he had realized a handsome income for two or three years. THE DOG i.A!W. A bill is pretty certain to pass the legislature repealing all dog laws, except the pro. visions of the statute making owners of dogs hable for the depredations of their canine pets upon sheep and stock.

Both houses have adopted by a very decided vote a resolution instructing the proper committee to report a bill for the repeal of all laws relating to the keeping and licensing of dugs. Something of this kind was petitions are coming in from nearly every of the state praying to exempt from the law. A half dozen bills are still pending in the assembly, which are amendatory, supplementary and explanatory of the perplexed and intolerable dog law. It is expected that the wool growing inter, fit will put in their remonstrance and that the legislature will yet have a lively time over the subject. At present the law is in immi' nent danger.

The board of supervisors met again yesterday forenoon Mrl West in the chair, acd all the members present except Messrs, Stemper, Michel, Nicbol and Forth. The accustomed number of petitions were presented and accounts allowed.

Mr. Crawford, from the committee on printing, reported adversely to a former report in regard to the letting of the contract for the incidental printing of the county to a particular person at specified terms. Mr. Moscowitt introduced a resolution authorizing the clerk to sign and the chairman of the board to countersign orders in fnil for the payment of all claims allowed up to date. Adopted.

Mr. Richter, from the committee on poor department, presented the' report of the superintendents of the poor for the quarter ending 31st, 1867, which was accepted and filed. We extract the following facts and figures from it: The money on hand and received during the quarter Was as follows: Cash on band from the third quarter $iSV 10 Ouch received from county treasurer 2,500 00 Prom other sources 44 75 Total $3,12585 Expenditures Of money 1,84825 Cash on hand 11,277 6u i Tne board of superviKom have examined -and allowed accounts to the amount of 3,814 48 The total expenses for the quarter are therefore 5.062 Y3 i Expanses of the poor office for the quarter are 82,896.36, of which $350 was for the salary of two superintendents; was for rent: $1,42156 was for flour; for groceries; $108.70 for sending off paupers; M. J. Ocracrc, The above and folIoTing figures are given somhwhat in detail, for the reason that evory people who happened at moment to, be looking up the broad virtk of.gpruigaireet, was, yesterday afternoon, suddenly by liveliness of movement exhibited by a. horse attached to express wagon, which suddenly described a close curve in the angle formed by the junction of Spring and West Water streets. Vehicles to the right; vehicles to the left; and Spring street bridge be- 'ore. Forward dashed the express wagon; ts course, however, was not the shortest distance between two objects, but consisted of a succession of acute angles, the points of each of which were damaged The flying passed over the bridge; but was retarded by a hack in which was reclining at her ease a lady all unconscious of the quick peril behind her.

-When finally brought to a halt on Wisconsin street, the two rear wheels of this vehicle were each a periphery, the spokes within which had been entirely annihilated. MO.VCMEXT TO will be remembered that the erection of an appropriate monument to the, memory of Solomon Juneau the founder of city of Milwaukee, was' recently the subject of debate in the board of supervisors of tliis county. The subject was subsequently referred to the committee on public buildings, of which Gen. Crawford is chairman. The general informs us tfcat he intends soon to prepare an elaborate report upon thia matter; in which will be'embodied some interesting fa Cts connected with the early history of our city, and the life of the man who laid deep and strong founda- trons for the prosperity of the future metropolis of Wisconsin.

General Crawford is the oldest member of the ward, and a very old resident of our city; and gathered within the grasp of his personal recollections must be many interesting reminiscences of the pioneer days of Milwaukee, and of the history of its founder. The truth, however, that there at present exists a great necessity for a commodious public hall in that part of Milwaukee, and it is understood that certain parties are taking advantage of this want, nnd will soon erect an extensive one.
