25. Father Theobald left Tuesday for a new parish at Rernsen, after nearly 21 years as priest here. Joe Sinnwell was master of ceremonies at the program fol" lowing the six o'clock dinner. Included were an accordion, solo by Thomas Bormann, and adcordion band numbers by Ronald Zeimet, Mary Ann Berte, Donna Mae Bormann, Janice Kirsch and Thomas Bormann. Talks were given by Herbert Hammer, Mrs.

Leona Sinnwell, Father N. J. Becker of Royal, Very Reverend William Mason of Emmetsburg, Milford Plathe, and Franklin Wagner. Vocal numbers were presented by Herbert Bormann, Ernest Gales Donald Illg, Edward Reding, Peter Reding, Mark McGuire Henry Thilges and accompanied by Mary Joyce Capesius. A gift was given Father Theobald from the basketball squad, and a purse from the parish.

Visiting priestSj were Rev. William Mason, Emmetsburg; Rev. Edward Maynard, Ledyard; Rev. Joseph Schultes, Bancroft; Rev. P.

P. Goaren, Algona; Rev. C. Ahmann, St. Benedict; Rev.

L. Grcte- man, Livermore; Rev. James Duhigg, Estherville; Rev. Leo Kelm, Algona; Rev. G.

Benjamin, Algona; and Rev. N. J. Becker, Royal. Mike Slofiels Moving Mr.

and Mrs. Mike StofTel were pleasantly surprised on Tuesday evening when their neighbors Came with well filled lunch baskets for a farewell party in the Stoffel home. They were presented with a table lamp as a remembrance gift from'their neighbors. Those present were Mr. and Mrs.

Paul Erpelding, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Becker, Mr.

and Mrs. Geo. Thul, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thul.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zumet, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ziemet, and Mr.

and Mrs. Ray Zeimet. Rural Carriers Met Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sinnwell of St.

Joe attended a meeting Thursday of the. Rural Letter Carriers and auxiliary at Glidden. Mrs. Sinnwell, president of the sixth district auxiliary, conducted the ladies meetings. Mr.

Sinnwell, a member of the board of directors of the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers association took part in the discussions at the mens meetings and gave a talk at the dinner. Farmerette 500 Club Mrs. Marvin Reding was hostess to the Farmerette 500 club in her home on Thursday afternoon. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Arthur Kohlhaas for high, Mrs.

Clarence Bormann, low, and Mrs. Martin Friedevs, travel prize. Mrs. Albert Kramer and Mrs. Richard Kohlhaas were guests.

Mrs. Norbert Thilges, a member of the club, is moving to a farm near Bancroft and Mrs. Ralph Faber will be a new member. Mrs. Reding served delicious lunch.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Erpelding and family returned home Monday from a trip to Texas to visit with Mrs. Erpeklings parents and other relatives and friends. Clarence (Pete) Werling of Algona lias started as a general mechanic in the Reding garage in St.

Joe. Mr. and Mrs. Milford Plathe entertained supper guests in their home on Monday evening, Feb. 26 in observance of the fourth birthday of their daughter, Kristine.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Reding drove to Blue Earth, Sunday to get Mrs. Reding's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Jake Garmann of Minneapolis, who were at the home of another Mrs. Augusta Kurth. The Garmanns plan to spend some time here at the home of their daughter Mrs. Reding and family. Mr.

and Mrs. M. T. McGuire entertained to a 6 o'clock turkey dinner in their home on Thursday as a farewell courtesy to their son, Mark, who has enlisted in the navy. They took Mark to DCS Moines Monday to report at the naval headquarters.

Pfc. Kirsch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Kirsch, who was inducted into army service on Feb. 15, and sent to Fort Reilly, was transferred to a camp in Maryland the past week.

Wesley Seniors Play Final Game Wesley high avenged an earlier season loss to Lone Rock basket- eers, last Friday night, as the Pirates stormed to a 35-23 win. The game marked the final appearance of Wesley's starting five, as all will graduate this spring. It was the fifth Wesley victory of the season, for Coach Keith Pegram's boys. Gene Huff led the scoring with" 18 points for Wesley and Ken Meyer of Lone Rock also bucketed 18. In the game between the two girls teams, Lone Rock outlasted Wesley and took a 34-30 decision.

Joan Hilbert and JoAnn Seiler played their last game for Wesley. Mitchell was high scorer with for Lone Rock, while Connie Studer hit 14 for Wesley. Algona, Iowa CONTRACTOR Phone JoAnn Balgeman Bride Of Victor Meyer, West Bend Essay Winners Selected At Titonka School Titonka Three winners were chosen in an essay contest for high school pupils which was sponsored jointly by the Titonka Woman's club and Titonka Federated club. Eighteen essays on "What I Can Do For Democracy" were handed in and judged. Betty Ann Miller received first in the frnshman group, Carol Callies first in the sophomore group and Sharon Callies first in the ior group. Of the three, Carol Callies received the $5.00 prize for writing the winning essay over all.

The other two girls received prizes of $3.00 each. Mary Tjaden and Mary Ann Nordman received honorable mention. The winning essay will be sent to Mrs. J. B.

Asa, county Federation president, to compete with other essays sent from county schools. Woman's Club Elects The Titonka Woman's club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Harold Gartner. Mrs. Howard French was leader of the lesson on the social life and customs of Mexico.

She also described their recent trip into Mexico to the city of Guaymas. At a previous meeting of the club the annual election of officers was held with Mrs. Clark Miller elected as president; Mrs. Edward Brandt, vice president and program chairman; Mrs. Clifford Krantz, secretary; Mrs.

George Bonacker, treasurer and Mrs. Howard French member of the county executive committee. Mrs. French is the retiring president. Mrs.

Inlermill Hostess Mrs. L. J. Intermill was hostess to the Tuesday Bridge club on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs.

Pierre Sartor was a guest of the club and prizes were wort by Mrs. Wm. Ricklefs, Mrs. C. F.

Callies and Mrs. John Stott. Sunday evening, February 18, Peace Lutheran church at West Bend was the setting for a beautiful wedding ceremony, when Miss JqAnn Balgeman was married to Victor Meyer, in a 7:00 o'clock candlelight ceremony. JoAnn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

George Balgeman, and Victor Meyer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Meyer of Ottosen. Rev. Wm.

Schuelke officiated. Soloist for the occasion was Mrs. Louis Henrikson. The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a bridal gown of white rosepoint lace and net over satin, in ballerina length. The gown featured a fitted lace bodice, a sheer net yoke, with peter pan collar and tiny covered buttons, extended to the, waist in Wack, long sleeves tapered to a point over the wrist.

To the fitted waistline was gathered a bouffant net skirt. Her headdress was a matching net ruffled clocke, trimmed with pearled orange blossoms to which was attached a full circular veil of the finest French Illusion. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white roses. Donna Balgeman served her sister as maid of honor. Miss Patricia Ketelson, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid.

Eldon Meyer served his brother as best man and Paul Meyer, also a brother, served as his attendant. Ushers were Earle Balgeman, brother of the bride and Walter Licht, cousin of the bridegroom. Miss Jean Balgeman had charge of the guest register. A reception for 150 relatives and friends was held in the parlors immediately following the wedding service. Mrs.

George Hanselman poured and Mrs. Louis Henrikson cut the wedding cake. Miss Balgeman has been cm- ployed at the Kossuth Co. PMA office in Algona the past three years. Victor Meyer is engaged in farming.

He is a veteran of World War II, having served 18 months, 10 of which were spent in Germany. After a short wedding trip, the newlyweds will make their home on a farm northeast of Ottosen. Wilbur Schram was hostess to the Titonka Federated club on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Leland Schroeder, leader of the lesson, discussed "Fashion and Fabric Forecast." A short topic was also given on "Some Famous Eating Places and Their Specialties." The Friendship group met Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church. A devotional service-was followed by games and a lunch was served by two mothers, Mrs. Maurice Bilsborough and Mrs.

Charles Beed. Mrs. Wilbur Schram and Mrs. Robert Budlong are leaders of the group. Jean French and Louis Oesterreicher, who are attending college at Iowa University, spent the weekend at their parental homes.

Mrs. Henry Orthel was ill and confined at the Buffalo Center hospital several days the past WTL'k. Bradford BufTington and A. J. Budlong drove to Ames Sunday morning to meet Oscar Blanchard who arrived from Woodburn, to attend the funeral of his father, Roy Budlong on Monday.

The Rev. and Mrs. L. G. Gartner of Plover, spent Saturday at the home of their son and family, the Harold Gartners.

John Pink is ill and lias been confined at the Park hospital at Mason City for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Beed drove to Sioux City on Thursday to attend a meeting of Frigidaire dealers at Hotel Martin.

They were accompanied by Bob Downs who spent the weekend with friends. Mrs. II. A. French and Jean were dinner guests at the Russell French home at Algona.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stott returned home Sunday from a 3 weeks western trip. Rough Sailing For LuVerne Seaman LuVerne Mr. and Mrs.

Herman Hinx received a letter from their son. Myron, saying he had landed in Japan. He sailed Jan. 29 and arrived there Feb. Ifj.
