The Algona Upper Des Mothes, Algona, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1939 FARM CHORUS TO PRACTICE, DEC. 13 Dec. 13 is the date set for the only rehearsal in December of the newly organized Farm Women's chorus, and will be held at the Algona high school building. Regular rehearsals after Jan.

1 will be the second and fourth Wednesdays of cach month, The first practice will be held at Bancroft the second of the month at Plans are underway for a spring trip. nnd a three-part song is to be presented at the' first public appenrance of the chorus at the annual farm bureau meeting to be held early in January at Titonka. Brophy. Old Time Resident Dies in Estherville Union: The Gould family received word last of the sudden passing of Mrs. Mary Mathews of Estherville, who submitted to an operation and failed to survive. She is a sister of the late Ben Gould and la the third member of the family to pass away this past year. There are two sisters remaining.

Mrs. Fred Ramus and another in California and also AL brother. She was 65 years old. Those attending from here were Albert and Kenneth Gould, Mr. and Jens Sorenson and Mr.

Johnson, Titonka, WAS married Thursday to Doyle Craven, son of the late M. S. Craven, Titonka. Rev. English of Algona, read the ceremony at bride's home at six o'clock in the evening by candlelight.

Vera Johnson, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and Leo Orthel was best man. Miss Johnson also played Lohengrin's wedding march. The bride wore a green costume suit with brown accessories and her attendant wore brown. guests nt the wedding were Chas. C.

After a short wedding trip the couple will be nt home in Titonka whore Mr. Craven is manager of the telephone office there. Mrs. Craven graduated from the Algona high school and has taught for several years in the district 5 Wesley township school. Mr.

Craven gradunted from Titonka school nnd nttended the Dunwoody school in Minncapolis. 251h Wedding AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. John Schimmel celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, Sunday. Their daughter, Mrs.

W.m. entortained 25 guests in their honor. Mrs. Schimmel, the former, Myrtle Williams, daughter late Mr. and Mrs.

John Williams, and Schimmel were married December 2nd at Corwith with A. Howe, formorly of Bancroft officiating, Mr. and Mrs. Schimmel came to Kossuth county from Pontiac. Illinois, 35 venrs ago with their parents and have lived here the entire time with caceptions of four years spent farming Minnesota.

5, at the Legion hall. Twenty-two nominations were made. At the next meeting, to be held Thursday evening, Dec. 19, the elections will be held. Twelve of the 22 will be named to the club council.

One of the council will be named as president, and the president point the vice president and a tary-treasorer. The remainder will serve on the council. Mr. Meyer is employed in the Congressional library in Washington. Betn Sigmn Phi MeetsMrs. Donald Miller was hostess to the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Tuesday evening. Sixteen members were present.

During the business meeting plans were made for the giving of a Christmas baskot this year. Mnrgaret Brown, Allce Payne and Elsie Hilton were appointed, the committee in charge. P. Smith gave the lesson on poetry with Mrs. Ed Hanson and Mrs.
