2 The Call-Leader, Monday, May 10, 2004 Obituaries- Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. May 12, 2004, at Porter Funeral Home in Tipton, with Brother Charles Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Eileen Cooper Eileen Cooper, 90, of Carmichael, died May 7, 2004. Funeral arrangements are pending at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. John Duncan Jr. can 81, Sharpsville, died May 8, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.

Born May 27, 1922, in Howard County, he was the son of John Henry and Hazel Dell (Youngman) Duncan. He married Luella Margaret (Peg) Singer Oct. 18, 1947, who survives. They had a special marriage enjoying life together for 56 years. His hobbies were flower gardening, traveling, and reading, especially about current events.

He graduated from Sharpsvile High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served in World War in the Sixth Marine Division in Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and Guam, until discharged in 1946. In 1950, he returned to duty in the Second Marine Division as a reservist in the Mediterranean area during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1951. He participated in many Marine reunions throughout the United States and especially will be missed by David and Bess Johnston, Waycross, Ga.

He retired after 40 years from High Temp Alloy Division, Kokomo Cabot Corporation. He was preceded in death by two brothers, The Rev. Donald George and a sister, Oilene Duncan. is survived by the following brothers-in-law and sistersin-law: Dwight and Linda Singer, Kokomo; Mary and Bill Krajewski, Fort Myers, Sue Sokol, widow of James Sokol, Kokomo; and Joy and Ernest Myers, Lafayette. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church, Kokomo. He was a 50 year member of the Kokomo York Rite, Naphtall Masonic Lodge No. 389, Center and Past Master of Reserve Lodge No. 363, Sharpsville. He was a member of the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Murat Shrine, Kokomo Ibn Saud Grotto, Kokomo Eagles No.

1152, Quarter Century Club of Haynes International, National Arbor Day Foundation, and Sharpsville Order of Eastern Star No. 148. He held life mem- still over there in the military and others that are still being held hostage and all. Addresses on the envelopes, sent in care of the city, were from as far away as California and New York. "Most of these envelopes have money in them," she said.

Tuesday at line funeral home. Masonic services will begin at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arthur D. Drullinger TIPTON Arthur Dale Drullinger, 84, Tipton, died May 9, 2004, at his home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Attica, the son of Hardy and Mildred (Green) Drullinger. In September 1964, he married Elna D. Cherry. She survives.

Dale was a die setter and group leader at Delco Electronics in Kokomo, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Elks. Moose and -the NRA. Dale, served. as an MP in the United States Air Force during World War II.

Vincent Hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Orestes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Frankton Christian Church. She married Marvin L.

Smith, who died Nov. 7, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley and husband, Kenneth Clymer of Elwood and Judy' and husband, Russell "Sonny" Colest sons, Rick and wife, Mary Smith of Elwood and Terry and wife, Mary Kay Todd of Decatur, three brothers, Lewis Duane Cox of Alexandria, Herbert Cox of Alexandria and Leslie Cox of Texas; and a sister, Una Lee Phillips of Gallatin, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Cox and Gertrude (Keefe) Cox; brothers, James Otis Cox, Lester Cox and Dewy Cox; and sisters, Wilma Haynes and Darlene Cox. (Meret) Eden. He married Mauna Garrett Feb. 10, 1972. He retired from Asplundh Tree Experts March 22, 1997. He was a Jehovah Witness with the Elwood congregation and a member of the Windfall Coffee Club.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Virginia L. (Meret) Eden-Crab of Orchard, children, Samantha, Harden of Windfall, Lore Bess of Windfall, Carl Wayne McAlister of Nicholsville, Ky. and Marshall Howard Eden of Windfall; brothers, Donald Eden of Richmond, Nolan Eden of Lancaster, Ky. and Frankie Eden of Lancaster, and three grandchildren. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) A woman allegedly collected money from two adoption placement agencies in a scam that left one of two couples promised her newborn son heartbroken. Mayra Paredes Guevara, 22,.

was charged Friday with two felony charges of profiting from an adoption and theft, and adoption deception, which is a misdemeanor. Investigators say the Indianap polis woman collected $3,593.51 in living expenses from two adoption agencies. Her son was born April 9 and adopted by a couple through Bethany Christian Services agency. But a Carmel couple who was also expecting her baby was left heartbroken and out $1,446.64 in living expenses they paid Guevara and $500 for a domestic home study through Coleman Adoption Services. "They were literally devastated crushed by the loss of this child," Indianapolis Police Department Detective Steven Hull said of the couple.

Under Indiana law, a child cannot be sold for adoption. But the adopting couple can pay "living expenses" or medical costs up to $3,000 to the woman giving up her baby. According to a police report, investigators learned about actions after a social worker for: 1 Coleman Adoption Services called police in April after becoming alarmed that Guevara's due date kept changing. The social worker told police Guevara called the agency April 20 and said she was still pregnant, had decided to keep her child and was leaving for California. The next day, the social worker discovered that Guevara had delivered a baby boy April 9, and the infant had been given to a couple through the Bethany Christian Services agency.
