Fourteen members of the 4-H beef committee completed plans for the 4-H beef auction annually held at the Vigo County Fair. Ray Graham, Prairie Creek township, was elected chairman and Walker Robertson of Sugar Creek township, secretary -treasurer.

Powell, twice an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for congressman, today declined comment on destruction of pamphlets he sent to Peoria, 111 schools. The Peoria school board yesterday ordered destruction of two of literature.

Dr. Melvin Davis, superintendent of Peoria schools, termed the free literature sympathetic to the Ku KIux Klan and anti-Catholic The pamphlet was titled Powell said he had distributed between 6.000 and 8,000 copies of issues of his pamphlet. He agreed readily that it was sympathetic to the Klan and critical of the Roman Catholic Church. Powell told a reporter he financed the project himself and asserted he has no connection with any organization. He said he was not certain he could continue publishing the pamphlet because of the expense.

Formerly part owner of a Sullivan automobile agency, Powell has no business connections at present He sought the nomination for congress in 1946 and 1948. GRAIN DEFEATS MEAT FAMINE WASHINGTON. Dec.
