SING SINO, N. Dec. prisoners in Sing Sing prison had a day of rest and were supplied with extra rations. The condemned murderers, McElvaine, Trozza and Gotta, ato their last Christmas dinner. Cotta is to executed in January, and Trozza and McElvoine are to be rcscntencod during the coming week.

Stricken- with a Probably Fatal Attack of Apoplexy In Jail. CONCORD, N. Dec. B. Sawtelle, whose revolting murder of his own brother, Hiram Sawtelle, gained him wide notoriety, and for which crime he was soon to suffer the extreme penalty, was stricken with apoplexy in his cell in the state prison here.

The heavy breathing of the prisoner attracted a turnkey to Sawtolle's cell about 9 o'clock, who discovered him lying on his bed in an unconscious condition. The warden and the prison physician were summoned and the latter remained with the prisoner all night. At 4 p. in. the prisoner was still unconscious and his pulsations were becoming weaker every minute.

He will hardly rally from tho attack. A Biff Hrowery Combine. CHICAGO, Deo. is probable that within a short time a huge brewery combine will unite a majority of the Chicago and Milwaukee breweries. The consent of thirteen concerns is practically assured.

--Throe sons of Henry Gorr, of Beechwoods, fell into Basket pond recently and would have drowned but for the brave conduct of Eva Ziercs who threw a rope to them. --William Keogan, of Beechwoods, one of the first settlers in Western Sullivan, died on the 20th, aged 84. He was born in Ireland. In 1840 he settled on the farm on which ho died. He leaves two sons, two daughters, 20 grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren.

--C. T. Curtis has been elected W. M. of Delaware Lodge, F.

and A. of Calllcoon Depot. --Byron Dayton, of Wurtuboro, has received a pension of $12 a month. --The fair for the benefit of St. Joseph's Church, Wurtsboro, opened Christmas.

L. McPhorson, of Delhi. --A aad accident occurred at Fremont recently, Thomas O'Mara, whilo working in a quarry, having his -neck broken by a mass of curth falling on him. --The case of George M. Beebe against the Board of Supervisors and John F.

Anderson, which was brought by Mr. Beebe to restrain the Board of Supervisors from paying Mr. Anderson the bill audited for his services in Starr cases number two, three and four, has been dismissed by Judge Edwards. Mr. Anderson now will receive his money as was first allowed him by the Board of Supervisors.

--Sunday, 20th a sou of John Blucher, aged 13 years, went skating on Lake Superior in the town of Bethel. When he failed to return at night a search was instituted and his body- found at the bottom of the lake. The Republican says Mr. Blucher's family has been deeply afflicted. Somo 12 years ago he resided at Narrowaburgh und while there of his children were drowned in a small pond.

--Orrin B. Smith has been elected Commander of Ratcliffe Post, G. A. of Montioello. --The county house has about TO inmates.

--Miss Maggie Coulter, a niece of Mrs. John Elliott, of Glen Wild, died very suddenly last week. --An artesian well has been sunk at Pleasant Lake which penetrates the earth a distance of 90 feet and is now Bowing at the rate of a gallon of water in 35 seconds. --Charles Mitteer, of Hurloyville, had a fall recently and fractured two of his ribs. --The Watchman says it is understood that George Hill will continue in bis present position at tho county house under the new administration for a time at least, and also that Dr.

F. A. McWilliams will be reappointed physician. --Wednesday two prisoners in the county jail, Murray and Carey, by accident or design, set fire to their straw bed. In a moment the flames Hashed up to the ceiling and the Court House and jail were filled with blinding smoke.

By prompt action the fire was put out and no particular damage was done. It is thought it was the purpose of the prisoners to get up an excitement and then escape. The wills of Christopher Hoib, James Maxwell, of Bethel, George Hill, of Liberty, Margaret McFarlane, of Westbrookville. and Patrick Keener, of Rockland, have been admitted to probate. --Edward Carry, found guilty of assault in the second degree, has been sentenced to two years at Danneraora.

Arthur Murray, who plead guilty to assault In the third degree, was sentenced to 100 days In the county jail.
