The conquest of Arkansas got Texas off to a good start toward the Southwest Conference title which many have picked Texas to win.

Apparently uncertain of which of its many offense patterns to use, Arkansas gave up almost any hope for the chi mplonship by dropping its second league contest in three starts. Dawson, a 175-pound senior who Ted the conference in scoring last year had not crossed the goal line in the first four games this season. He started making up for lost time in a hurry, rocketing through the line and around end for the first three Texas touchdowns. He also hanged his toe into the ball IOWA CITY Oct. 18 Wisconsin, its pride tortured by Ohio State only last week, turned its cold fury on Iowa, 42-13, today to get the Badgers back in stride in the Big Ten football race.

Knocked from the No. 1 and its Rose Bowl hopes jarred by the 14-23 loss Ohio, fumbling Iowa team with a smashing offense and a defensive line that held the helpless Hawks to a net gain of 23 yards by rushing. That sideline spurt jolted Wisconsin into reality and its potent line, led by Ends Jerald Wuhrman and Don Voss and Guard George and an alert secondary let Iowa score again until late in the final period.

Wisconsin scored six touchdowns and showed no favoritism as to the method. Three came on passes and three on the ground.
