8 FORGER BRACC'S PATERSON RECORD Worued the Check Arrested lor Burslary. But The Paterson police would like to get Forger Tbomae K. Crawford alias Wilbur E. Bragg in their custody. He played hie check game there and the evidence pointed directly to him, but when the police went to capture falm the bird had Crawford was arrested in Paterson, some months ago, upon suspicion of having burglarized the home of Mr.

Trying to Agree on Some Clan for street Improvement. The Republican members of the Common Council held a conference, Saturday night, with a view to agreeing on Borae course of action, by which street improvements might be made this year. The AHGUS cot being 3n the confidence of the majority of the Council is not able to publish the conclusion arrived at, but if the talk of individual aldermen outside the council chamber counts for anything, it's a safe guess that no agreement was reached and that nothing will be done. Nelson Knapp returned, yesterday, from a week's driving trip. They left last Monday, remaining that night with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bonnell, at Lake. From there they drove to Orange, N.

where they visited relatives. From Orange they went to Hackensack and New York, and home by way of Tonkere, Tarrytown, Sing Siog, Fiahkill and Newburgh. Tfce Jewish SCTV Year. The Jewish New Year, which occurs on Thursday, September 19tb, will be appropriately celebrated by membersof the Hebrew faith in this eity. All the Jewish merchants will close their places of business at o'clock, Wednesday evening, and keep them closed until 6 o'clock, Thursday evening.

Ex-Supervisor Youugr, ot Montgomery, Meets Death Suddenly. Ex-Supeivisor Robert Young, of the town of Montgomery, was found dead in a fleitf, yesterday morning. Mr. Young was seventy-seven ears old. He went out to turn the cows into the field, Saturday evening, and told bis family that after doing so he would drive to the villace of Montgomery, as he usually did evenicga.

Members of his family noticed that he did not drive one of his own horses, but supposed that he had ridden to she village with a reighbor, and that he would return home when it suited him do so. About midnight, one of Mr. Young's daughters awoke, and rind- ing that her father was not yet home, aroused one of her brothers, who tried to assure her that all was right, but at 4 o'clock she again awoke ter brother, who at her suggestion went into the field where Mr. Young was last seen, and found his dead body about a rod from the bars through which he had driven the cows. Coi oner Decker, of this city, was sent for and held an it quest.

Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause of death. Mr. Young was a member of the Board of Supervisors for eight consecutive years, a also served a single term. He was a Republican and one of Montgomery's most prominent citizens. He is survived by his wife and four children, David George, Margaret and Frances, all residing at home; also by one brother, Thomas Young, of Cannonsburgh, and one sister, Mrs F'ed Decker, of FROST AND ICE.

A special train will leave Middletown at o'clock, this evening, with the official combination car and engine No. 30, and an extra Pullman attached, to make toe annual inspection trip over the Ontario and Western road. President Thomas P. Fowler, Second Vice-Presidenr John B. Kerr, General Manager Child--, General Superintendent Canfleld, General Passenger Agent J.

C. Anderson, Superintendent of Motive Power George W. West, Dickson Eddy, coal sales agents, and several of the directors will ba on board. They will meet Yice-President Price, of London, at Oswego, to-morrow. Returning, the party will make a thorough inspection of the main line and branches, including the Bcran- ton division.

Yice-President Price has been at- tanding the meeting of railway officials at Montreal. He is a director cf the London and Northwestern, whose record breaking train startled the world until outdone by the feat of the New Yoru Central, last week. Notwithstanding his large railroad have special affection for the Ontario and Western. Ic was through him that the teat trips of ooal trains were made on the O. and W.

in September, 1893, in competition with coal trains on the London and Northwestern. The expert railroad accountants, after considerable figuring on curves, grades and friction of rails of the two roads, finally decided that the O. and W. could cany the heaviest coal train at the least expense.
