Smith's three-pomt play and three straight Clark field goals blew it open 85-62 with 5.14 re maintng. SAC Fullerton College is still right in the thick of the South Coast Conference basketball race, and it can thank Jay Lucas for its contending status. Lucas hit four consecutive free throws in the final 25 seconds Wednesday night to clinch a 68-63 win for Fullerton over Mt. SAC. and keep the Hornets one game behind league-leading Santa Ana Mt. 75-72 Valley led by three points at halftime, and maintained at least a two-point lead throughout the final 16 minutes. Orange received a 23-point performance from Carl Jeppeson and 16 points from Bill Carroll. Bill Dexter and Joe Edwards each had 20 for Valley and Ron Cornelius added 12 before he fouled out. The win puts Valley in a second place tie with Tustin both teams sporting 5-2 league marks Dave Leeper fired in a basket with just seven seconds remaining to give Villa Park a 50 48 win over Foothill at Foothill Terry Albritton had 16 for Foothiil in a losing cause FJ Modena moved to ithin one game of second place, hanging on to defeat Santa Ana 57-48. Dale Van Sickel Illness Fatal NEWPORT BEACH Calif. Dale Van Sickel. a stuntman, actor and the I'n- lversitv of Florida's first All- American football player, died Tuesday after a long illness He was 69.
