By The Associated Press Three weeks after tornadoes ravaged northwestern Pennsylvania, twisters returned to the area, damaging buildings, uprooting trees and knocking down power Only one injury was reported as a result of Saturday night storms. Shawn Sweetapple, 18, of Polk, was admitted to Franklin Regional Medical Center after lightning struck his house, shocking him as he stood in front of a refrigerator. He was listed in good condition yesterday. On May 31, a series of tornadoes swept through eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada, killing 88 people. A twister Saturday night damaged two homes in Spring Township, Crawford County.

Two other homes, a barn and a trailer in the county were damaged before the high winds subsided. "It was a little grayish-white nel that dropped out of that black bank of clouds. You could see the clouds thrashing around. It came straight toward the house," said Faith Scott, who was visiting her -brothers, Darrel and Walter Brickner, at their farm in Spring Township. Scott, a reporter for the Erie Times-News, said she took pictures of the twister until it was 200 feet from her brothers' home around 7 p.m.

"Then it started ripping and tear. ing, and we headed to the basement," she said. The tornado swept through the living room, smashed the silo off the barn, ripped out several trees and pulled out a light pole. Nation gk, 24 hr: eend. doctors from Saudi Arabia is expected to undergo training. In addition to clinical training on patients, the visiting doctors engage in research in transplant-related projects. A current research effort, for example, involves a study of a new improved form of cyclosporin, the drug that keeps the body from rejecting new organs. "Many people from many nations are here doing research and getting experience in transplantation," Kam said. "I am sure there is no other place in the world where people can get this sort of a Doctors who go through the program gain the skills necessary to transplant a variety of organs, Starzl said.

"The great need in the 1960s was for people who could transplant kidneys," Starzl said. "Now the need is. for people who do everything kidneys, livers and pancreases." Heart transplantation is in a class by itself, Starzl explained, because the equipment involved in heart transplantation differs sharply from that in liver and kidney transplants. The importance of foreign nations developing their own transplant programs has been highlighted recently by disagreements among American doctors over whether foreign nationals should be given kidneys that could be transplanted to American patients instead. Suggested solutions have included setting quotas for foreign nationals and not performing transplants for foreign nationals as long as American patients are available who might benefit from the same kidneys.

By Henry W. Pierce Post-6azette Staff Writer Aliza Shamir, a 58-yearold Israeli, underwent a liver-transplant operation last week at Presbyterian-University Hospital. Her surgeon was not Dr. Thomas Starzl, the liver-transplant pioneer, however. Her surgeon was one of her own countrymen Dr.

Igal Kam of Technion University in Haifa. Her new liver was donated by an unidentified eastern Pennsylvania resident. The surgical team that removed the liver from the donor's body was headed by a Japanese physician Dr. Satoru Todo of Kyushu University. Shamir was in fair condition yesterday.

When Kam returns home seven months from now he will set up Israel's first liver-transplant program. "We already have kidney transplant programs in three centers in Israel," Kam said. r'But we have no liver program." When Todo goes home he will use his newly acquired transplant skills to help his fellow Japanese. Kam and Todo are part of a steady procession of foreign nationals who have been learning to transplant organs at Presby. Their aim is to make their countries' as self-sufficient in organ transplantation as possible.

More than 150 doctors from 37 countries have received training in organ transplantation since the late 1960s, according to hospital records. Many have since become heads of departments at leading hospitals in the world's major cities. Currently the roster of foreign trainees at Presby includes doctors from Israel, Egypt, Japan and Spain. Later this summer a group of r.v Mary Chisnell, 94 Mary C. Chisnell, 94, of 100 La-vern Penn Hills, died Friday at her home.

Boehm of Indianapolis, and Irene M. Hettenvan of Danville, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchil- dren; and three sisters.
