Twentieth Century-Fox Is making "A Man Called Peter," the biography of the late Peter Marshall, famed Presbyterian minister. This is a far cry from the studio's other Cinemascope offerings, which have specialized in sex and spectacle. Perhaps the studio feels, as many do, that it's time the big screen said something. Producer Sam Engel spent more than a year working on the script, which was written by Eleanor Grii-fin. Academy Award winner for "Boy's Town." He insisted on keeping large hunks of the minister's sermons in the film The sermons are designed to occupy 20 minutes in the entire film, and one lasts a full eight minutes.

Jtit In case the iblic won't go for such big doses, the scenes have been designed so the sermons can be cut. But the studio hopes that won't be necessary. 1 visited the set and met Richard Todd, the Dublin-born actor who is portraying Marshall. He had never known of the preacher be-j fore the film came up. but has bass accordian.
