Smoke a pipe if you will, but when you are away where you are thrown into the society of ladies I f'Ki'wrrrr A A Sudden Death- The death Monday movnin.of Mr.s. Charles Asliew, at l.or home near this town, was very sudden. After planing her domes! io work for the coming week, Mrs. Askew retired late Saturday night as as usual, during the night she was struck with a paraletie stroke which seemed to take possession of every part of the body, and though seemingly conscious until the last moment she was unable to speak, and at. sun rise Monday her spirit was wafted to the great beyond.

The deceased was abort years of age and for many years had been a consistent member of the Methodist church, and while the husband, son and sisters are mourning their loss they can rejoice in the knowledge that she is at rest with her God, for be it truly said that a more Godly lady never lived, and we, like those who knew her better, believe that her earthly religion was such that she was entitled to, and has received the crown prepared for the righteous in Heaven. The remains were interred in the M. E. Church yard on Tuesday at and gentlemen, VIRGINIA CHEROOTS are the correct thing and establish you as a man of good taste and breed At Vv- Tf A TO T3SE I -WHOLESALE und OLD ing. FIVE TEN CENTS.

Study constantly and carefully the pupil's language to learn what words he uses aud the meauiugs hugives them.

2. Secure from lorn as lull a statement as possible of his knowledge of the subject, to learn both his ute'ts and ins mode ct ex pressing them, and lo help to correct his language. 3. Express your thoughts as far as pos. sible iu the pupil's words, carefully correcting any defect ill the meaniug he gives them.

4. Use tho simplest and fewest word that will express the idea. Unnecessary words add to tho child's work jud increase the danger of misunderstanding. 5. Use short sentences, and ofthesim.

plest construction. Long sentences tire the attention, while short ones both stimulate and rest the mind. A each step tne foot rests firmly on the ground, 6. If the pupil evidently fails to understand the thought, repeat it in other language, and if possible with greater sim plicity. 7.

Help out the meaning of the words by all available illustrations, preferring pictures aud natural objucts for young children 8. When it is necessary to teach a new word, give tho idea the word. This is the order of nature. 9. Seek to increase the pupil's stock of words, bo in number aud 111 the clearness and extent of meaning.

All true enlarge, ment of a child's language is increase of his knowledge, aud of his capacity for knowing. 10. As the acquisition of language is one of the most important objects of education, be not content to have the pupils listen in silence however attentive they may seem. The teacher is succeeding best whoso pupils talk most freely upon the lessons. Ex.
