Prof. Curtiss of the agricultural col- ,ego visited his brother, F. M., Satur- Jay. Prof Curtiss is one of the leading instructors and writers of the state pn agricultural and dairy matters. Ho is a young man still in the 30's, but he has gone 1'apidly to the front and is now known all over the west among agriculturists. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ingham returned from Omaha Monday. Miss Cornte will remain there until the holidays. While there Mr. Ingham attended both of the great foot ball contests between the Iowa and Nebraska teams. On Thanksgiving day neither team scored a point. Saturday Iowa won a single oal. This gives the state university oys the western championship this year, as they have won in every contest. One of their best players is a darkey, and when they went to Columbia, Mo., the rowdy element came near stirring up a riot. The encouraging shouts all along the line Were, " kill the nigger." But he was sandy and played the most courageous game of his life. Swea City Herald: We understand that some parties of Algona will hold a special sale of clothing in our town some time in the near future. The Standard notes a visit from Chas. Kraft to the flourishing city of Germania. Mr. Kraft is to have some clothing sales there and at other points. Wheat Is booming along up. There were only 50 cars in Chicago Saturday as against over 400 cars the same day last year. Wheat is worth 65 cents in Algona, The Ehlers & Falkenhalner holiday opening comes Dec 14, a week from next Monday, and will be a big event. The Register tells one about his upset last week: Tuesday the wagon tipped over on the Blackford hill near Algona and the oil ran out on the road, The boys have had excellent coasting where it froze over, making a glassy path down the hill.
