He leaves his widow and two sons, Paul and John Smock of Moweaqua. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon in Little Flock four miles southeast of Moweaqua.

FrederlcR Brand, pastor 61 Trinity Lutheran church In Springfield, who Is well known in local Lutheran circles, has resigned his position with that church to be director of foreign missions of the Missouri synod of the Lutheran church. He will have headquarters in St. Louis and one of his first duties will be to make a trip across the Pacific to Inspect the Lutheran mission work and field in India, China, and other Asiatic countries.

The position Is a new one. Rev. Mr. Brand will not only direct the foreign mission work, but he will keep the congregations of the Missouri synod informed on the progress of the mission work and its needs. Rev.
