Clair to a 5-2 victory over Beadling and the West Penn Junior Cup soccer championship at Beadling Field yesterday. The clash marked the end of the two-game set based on total goals scored. In the first game last week the teams played to a 1-1 tie, and yester- who was unfamiliar with the car, out of the lineup and sent Snider on his way to bump Posey. Besides Snider, the 42-year-old Harkey ancr McEIreath, Sammy Sessions, Nashville, made the lineup at 188.986 in an Eagle-Foyt. The only other complete qualifying run Sunday was by Jim Hurtubise, Indianapolis, former Speedway record holder, whose 184.262 in a Lola-Foyt was too slow.

Parsons participated in one of two mishaps early Sunday, but his spinning car missed the wall in the short north chute. Al Loquasto, Easton, also escaped injury but battered nis McLaren on the main straightaway wall. The track will be closed Sunday1 Soccer WEST PENN JUNIOR CUP Upper St. Clair Beadling (Upper St. Clair wins championship on two-game, total-goal basis, 5-3).

WEST PENN JUVENILE LEAGUE Bethel Park 2 Our Lady Of Grace 0 (Bethel Park wins league championship). W. P. INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE Bethel Park 6 Bethel Orange 0 Open Golfers Must Face Wet Courses The first big step will be taken by 137 area golfers today by competing in the local qualifier for the National Open championship at Fox Chapel Golf Club and Pittsburgh Field Club. They'll play 18 holes on each of the rain-battered 6,600 yard par 71 layouts in seeking 18 places in the sectional trials at Green Oaks Country Club on Tuesday, June 5.

The low scorers there in a field of about 50 will gain passports in the tournament proper at Oakmont Country Club, June 14-17. Both courses will play ex-tremely long today after heavy rain for the month of May The flatter Fox Chapel will probably be more affected by the over-wetting. The field is not as large as originally expected but it is very strong. Included in the list is pro touring "rabbit" Harry Tos-cano of New Castle who'll almost certainly gain one of the spots. Only non-Tri-Stater in the field is Johnny Stevens of Wichita, Kan.

Oakmont pro Lew Worsham is exempt from this qualifier but he's entered and he'll have to play at Green Oaks. Arnold Palmer, who was third last year at Pebble Beach, and Jim Simons of Butler, who was 15th, are exempt from both qualifiers. If any playoffs are needed today they'll be staged at the Field Club. -By PHIL ANAHEIM (AP) The California Angels traded right-handed pitcher Lloyd Allen and left-hand hitting first baseman Jim Spencer yesterday to the Texas Rangers for left-hand liitting first baseman Mike Epstein, right-hand pitcher Rich Hand and catcher Rick Stel-maszek. The deal had been in process for about three weeks, according to Angel General Manager Harry Dalton and Texas owner Bob Short.

Allen, 23, is 0-0 in five games. He has a 10.38 earned run average. Spencer, 25, was hitting .241 with two homers and 11 RBI. Epstein was hitting .188 with erne homer and six RBI. He will be a regular, either at first fcase or as a designated pinch hitter, said Bobby Winkles, the manager.

1- "He was unhappy in Texas and there was nothing we could do to make him happy," said of Epstein, a former Baltimore and Oakland slugger. He was third in the American League in homers last year with 27. "We got him because we like his power bat," said Dalton. His average of 198.183 was 9.543 m.p.h. faster than the slowest car to make the field, Jim McElreath's 188.640.

McEIreath, Arlington made the field Sunday after it was filled, bumping temporary qualifier rookie Tom Bige-low, who did 186.809 to fill the starting field. The other Sunday qualifier to stay in the lineup was Bob Harkey, Indianapolis, who had run in two previous Indy 500s one in 1964 and the other in 1971. Harkey was clocked at 189.733 m.p.h. in a Foyt-pow-ered Eagle. Rutherford, never able to win the 500 in nine previous tries, will share the front three-car row on the grid with former winners Bobby Unser and Mark Donohue.

Also in the lineup are former winners Foyt, Bobby Un-ser's brother Al, and Mario Andretti. Foyt had a problem in the waning hours of the trials. He was sitting in the lineup with an average of 188.927 m.p.h., due to some engine problems since corrected. Foyt had two cars capable of making the field but couldn't driving either of them himself without first withdrawing his original car. The cagey Texan's solution was to put rookie Johnny Parsons son of a former Indy winner, in the qualifying lineup with Snider just behind him in the other Foyt car.

When time remained for only one more run, with Parsons at the line, there were two cars in the tentative lineup at lower speeds than Foyt's. Foyt then waived Parsons, Ohio U. A. J. Foyt Houston, shooting to become the first four-time winner, survived the final runs after qualifying the previous week-end with a speed that looked vulnerable.

Only Sam Posey of earlier qualifiers was bumped from the lineup. Foyt's teammate, veteran George Snider, Bak-ersfield, did it on the last and fastest run of the day an average of 190.355 m.p.h. for the 10 mile qualifying run in a Gilmore Coyote-Foyt. The 33 starters in the 57th running of the $1 million Indianapolis Motor Speedway classic, May 28, averaged 192.329 m.p.h. in the two week-ends of trials.

That beat the 1972 field's qualifying record by 8.674 m.p.h. Nobody in Sunday's runs approached the qualifying record set by Johnny Rutherford, Ft. Seemiller State Champ PHILADELPHIA Dan Seemiller of Pittsburgh won the Pennsylvania Open table tennis singles title at the Philadelphia Table Tennis Club here yesterday. In his semifinal Sealtiel beat Erroll Resek of New York City, 21-17, 9-21, 22- 20, 14-21, and 21-16. Dan's brother, Rick, teamed with him to win the adult-junior doubles by beating Bill Sharpe of Philadelphia and Rog Sverdik of Rockville Centre, 21-19, 23-21, 21-16.
