Elks members explained the program is designed to recognize outstanding performance by the students. But it was explained that scholastic achievement, although considered, is not the only criteria by which the students are judged. Honored the first two months of the program were two students at Payson High School and two at Provo High School. The Payson High winners were Miriam Johnson, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Joel Johnson, and Bryan Montague, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Selected from Provo High School were Lucinda Bateman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

J. LaVar Bateman, and John Burnham, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Burnham.

The other high schools in the county also will be assigned a month to participate in the program.
