When you put the plastic on, the water will help hold the plastic beautifully. Reader DEAR HELOISE: I discovered this quite by accident. The last time I shopped, I put about six straight pins on a piece of cardboard and put them in my purse before I left home. Now when I try something on, I can pin up the hem to get an idea how it will look when it is shortened. Sometimes fitting rooms have pins on the floor but not always.
