It's looks as though the indomitable Agent 007 will have another life on screen in the person of Sean Connery, who once swore off the role.

A two-character play, it depicts the sexual subjugation and eventual my of a young man named Bernard by a ru hVs, attractive girl named Red.

The sexual tensions between the characters are vividly realized in the writing and in the performance. Praise is due Deborah Kent Shore, whose playing is reminiscent of the feline haughtiness and nasti-ness of the young Bette Davis, and Wayne Darby Cook, who represses his apparent physical strength most effectively to become the pitiable victim. The opening play, "Juice," is an absurdist fantasy which the author intended to be a satire on contemporary man- ners and morals. BCOlUMMPICTUtES have been Mr. Anderson going on for 18 months, with Connery holding out for an amazingly high price.

One report is that he will get $1 million plus a healthy share of the new film, which is even more rerrarkhle in these days of deflate dsalaries on screen. No doubt, another factor in Connery's charge of njind is his inability to score on screen in a non-Pnd ro e. Such efforts as "Shalako," his western with Bardot, and "The Molly Maguires," a fine film about terrorism in the Pennsylvania coal fields, were box-office disappointments. Connery's short-lived successor as Bond, George Lazen-by, proved unmanageable and stunted what could have been a stellar career for himself. His film, "On His Msiesty's Secret Service," proved surprisingly profitable even without Connery and despite some feeling the super-agent craze had ended.

Obviously', United Artists, Saltzman, Broccoli and Con-ery are betting the excitement can be revived, even though the novelty has long ago worn off. ON STAGE: The Playhouse Contemporary Theater Laboratory is currently presenting two original one-act plays by Dr. Kenneth Regenbaum, playwright-in-resi-dence. Under the collective title "Red Juice," they will be presented in the tiny Theater Upstairs through March 14. The difficult job of mounting these offbeat plays was given to Tom Thomas, who not only directed but devised the settings.

Once again, he has achieved some noteworthy results with his student performers, who tackle their often provocative assignments with a degree of commitment that is admirable. This is especially true in the second play, "Oh Boy, It's Red," which has a firmer base STARTS TODAY! MATURl TIMES TONIGHT P.M. 25 IMotr Pvklnel Ennlnil After r.M. Halldayi After 4 r.M. To say the least, "Red Juice" offers quite an alternative to such popular offerings as the current "Catch Me If You Can." It's commendable that the minority interested in experimental drama be served, too, and "Red Juire" is a bold undertaking in that respect.
