at the Villa Rest Home in Genoa following several months of illness Dr Allen Regan of the Methodist Church officiated and burial took place in the Elm wood cemetery The numerous lovely floral tributes and the many who paid their final re spects bespoke the love and high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her She was born Nov 22 1892 in DeKalb Township the daugh ter of George and Alice Shaw Bryan They moved to Mayfield when she was five years old and in that area she grew to ma ture years She was graduated from the Sycamore High School and the DeKalb Normal College and later taught for several years at the South Grove High School and Pleasant Hill School in Mayfield Township On May 23 1912 she was mar ried to Richard Valentine in Mayfield Township They lived on the farm for a few years then iribved to Sycamore ollowing the death of her husband she was employed in the accounting department at Industries Inc was bookkeeper at Grocery Store Bowlings Cattle Co and Garage Later she was employed as house keeper at the Grand Hotel Mack inac Island Mich during the summer and at a hotel in Naples la for the winter She retired May 1 of this year and had an ticipated being with her chil dren and their families more when stricken with a paralytic stroke in July later suffering two other strokes which proved fatal' She was a faithful member of the local Methodist Church also
