Rivers was born January 25, 1965, in Carroll County, son of Damon Earl Rivers and Mary Joell Fauraud Rivers. He was a member of Whitesburg Christian Church, and was employed as a Biophysicist in the Kidney (Renal) Division at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated from West Georgia College, the Medical University of South Carolina, and did graduate work at the University of Indianapolis the University of Pittsburgh. Survivors include his parents, Damon Brenda Rivers of Carrollton, and Mary Joell Rivers of Angoulene, France; maternal grandmother, Odette Fauraud of Angoulene, France; two sisters, Sabrina Hicks of Carrollton and Kim Butler of Lithia Springs, GA; four brothers, Jerry Rivers of Douglasville, GA, Neal Whitlock of Bowdon, GA, Steve Whitlock of Villa Rica, GA, and Norman Whitlock of Bowdon; also surviving is one niece and six nephews.
