Pro Post-Gazette Staff Writer The Rev. Richard A. Rossi and his wife, Sherrie Lynn Rossi, are so thankful to be back together that they are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at North Park for anyone who wants to come, particularly the less "fortunate, he said yesterday.

Rossi, who was released from jail in August after pleading no contest in the beating of his wife, said yesterday that Thanksgiving meant more to the couple this year than any other holiday, and that they hoped to share their feelings with others. "As we approach Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful this year to be reunited as a family," the couple said in a letter they sent to the news media. "We realize that the reason we are doing so well now is because of God's physical and spiritual healing in response to your prayers. We Pilgrimage, will be held at North Park's ranch house on Kummer Road from 11:30 a.m. to 2 pjn.

Thanksgiving day. The event will feature pilgrims and Indians, storytelling and a petting zoo. "We're calling it that because we want to try and give some folks who haven't experienced the country a chance to see it," Rossi said yesterday. Rossi said he had arranged to have a bus leave Point State Park at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Members of Rossi's First Love Church, who now meet in the couple's Cranberry home, are involved in planning and paying for the event, he said. Various organizations have provided food and other services for free or at a reduced cost. The Rossis said anyone who would like to attend the dinner or volunteer at the event can call 776-4298. wanted to thank all of you who prayed for us.

"We're thankful for those who stuck by us, but we also want you to know that we understand why some of you did not. You went through pain, just as we did. We bear no grudges. We now live in peace and harmony, and we ask forgiveness for our past mistakes." Richard Rossi received a four- to eight-month jail sentence in the Butler County Prison this year after pleading no contest May 18 to a charge of second-degree aggravated assault in the beating of his wife. The plea was entered after a two-week trial in March ended in a hung jury.

Richard Rossi, 32, was released from jail Aug. 29. Sherrie Rossi, 35, who initially accused him of trying to kill her, later recanted. She is now suing Butler County authorities, saying they violated her rights by keeping her from her husband of 11 years.
