War- ren preached in the forenoon a discourse on the subject of the of the The text was drawn from all parts of the Bible, both from the Old and the New Testament. From the Bible we can find only two grounds for the violation of the of necessity and deeds of mercy. The observation of the Sabbath was not a matter of conscience, but was based upon the higher express command of God. The breaking of the Sabbath was the breaking ot law. We would like to give a full outline of this excellent discourse, but our space and time will not admit of more than a further statement of his position on Sunday camp meeting, at which the gates are kept open during the Sabbath.

No more sitting on the fence to wit-! ness games. Parties caught trespassing i ing on the grounds outside the fence will be severely dealt with.

The following is from the Beaver Falls Tribune. It will probably be of interest some New Gastleites: usual the crowd outside, perched on the fence and well patronized trees was immense. Great, stalwart men, whiskered and moustached, were perched aloft, like so many monkeys or parrots, suffering torture for the space of two all this in order to save the paltry sura of 15 cents. The sight of these aroused the-ire of our saw-dust poet, and look at the result: They call base ball the best of treats, These brave and dead They cheer and bawl, outside the fence. And save the sum of fifteen cents.

The District Conference has also determined to have nothing to do with a camp meeting with open gates. To commence camp meeting on the last of the week and close on Monday so as to include two Sabbaths was evinentl.y to get the benefit of the large crowds that come on Sundays. The great mass of these crowds come just to have a good time.

Of course these people did not bring anything to eat along with them and provision must be made to furnish them on the ground. The reverend plainly thought that Sunday camp meetings with open gates were a money making scheme, and altogether contrary to Scriptural doctrine, and the Discipline and uthorities of the M. E. church. There was a large audience present which listened with great attention aud with general approval.

The sermon was an excellent one. We noticed Mr. Ira D. Sankey and wife present. By the by, the Evangelist will not sing at camp meetings with open gates.
