DeRiso, former co-owner of dairy store Mary A. DeRiso, the former owner of a cheese manufacturing company in Pittsburgh's East End, died yesterday at Shady-side Hospital of complications from emphysema. She was 84. Mrs. DeRiso and her late husband, Do-menic, owned and operated the DeRiso Dairy Products Co., which specialized in such Italian cheeses as ricotta, mozzarella and scamorza. Mrs. DeRiso's daughter, Rose Marie DeRiso of Fox Chapel, said her mother and father's business originally was on Larimer Avenue in East Liberty. When a fire in a neighboring dry cleaning business also destroyed their cheese shop, they reopened on Washington Boulevard near the city Fire Academy. "When I was a teen-ager, I used to work there on weekends and on holidays, when it would get real busy," DeRiso said. After Domenic DeRiso died in 1958, Mary DeRiso kept the shop open for another 10 years with the help of a brother, Ralph Altrudo of Penn Hills. She sold the shop in 1968, her daughter said. Rose Marie DeRiso said the shop had a retail business and also supplied cheese for restaurateurs, grocers and Strip District LATEST DEATHS The following Is a list of recent deaths, provided free as a public service.
