HAWCOTT & OGG'S THE WONDER STORE In anticipation of the thrills which old Santa and his company will bring to Algona Thursday, everyone is talking about the wonderful occasion. Sedate business men in offices, clerks in stores, teachers in the schools are as greatly enthused over the Impend ing event as are the children, them selves. This enthusiasm is entirely justified. Radiogram after radiogram has been received from Santa describing the thrilling features he will present in his gigantic parade spectacle to be presented in connec tion with his Algona visit. Reported in the Kossuth County Advance, these radiograms have related Santa's intention of bringing with him his team of eight Alaskan wolf hounds with their Eskimo driver, Miss Mary Christmas with 'her automobile and its load of toy nni- a very tall figure representing Undo Sam. Just preceding Uncle Sam in the parade will be a rega.l plush banner bearing tho inscription, "Loyalty to the U. S. A." Several other banners of a similar type with other appropriate inscriptions will be interspersed throughout the parade at fitting intervals. Soldiers in the parade Bearing out the patriotic theme to to a further degree, the Algona Legion and V. F. W. posts have offered to lend support to Santa's parade also by participating in it Seadlng the parade, the ex-service men very fittingly will beer the colors of the United States, the Stars and Stripes. Santa and every othei red-blooded American citizen, be lieves in patriotism and the heroism it inspires and inculcates. For tha reason; the colors of our countrj will occupy a place of primary 1m portanco in his parade. And, who has not thrilled to tin sight of stalwart American manbooi in parade? The tramp of feet. Th> ruffle of drums. All this will be on hand to provide an extra thrill when Santa stages his 'mammoth parade in Algona Thursday. Attraction!? for AH. Algona is now the center of attraction in this section of the state, for 1 everyone who 'has followed the accounts of his proposed pre-Christmas visit and parade here realizes that the event will appeal to all ages and all classes. There will be things to attract and hold the at' tention of old people, of the college cheduled time of the event. Espe lally those driving to Algona foi he occasion should do so, as traffic nevltably is going to be heavy, and t will be Impossible to move with any degree of speed just before the parade. Huge, wierd, and side-split- tingly funny, they are known as Santa's funny toys. Sometimes Santa refers to them as his grotesque figures because they are so ludicrous and cut so many amusing capers. Among these living toys are many human and animal characters. The human toys are impersonations of clowns and famous comic characters Animal toys represent members of the animal kingdom best known to children. One of the human toys is tacle. Sidewalks and streets will be crowded to capacity, every window filled with eager faces. Small children, will be hoisted on parental shoulders, and their cries of delight will mingle with the respectful and awesome silence and ejaculations of amazement on the part of their elders.
