A COMPARISON Contrast the position of two candidates for Governor the) in Missouri. Lawrence McDaniel, 1 Democrat, says only a fair recount of all the ballots will satisfy him. Forrest Donnell, Republican, says only the office will satisfy him.

LET PRESS INTERPRET LAWS We wonder why the Metropolitan Republican newspapers in Missouri don't try to do away with the office of Attorney General of Missouri and the Supreme Court! of Missouri and let them have the job and duty of interpreting jaws an(j constitution of Mis uron and are trying to do, at least so far as these laws relate to the Governor's contest. Dodge Corporation reports. channels. Liberty Chronicle. NEWSPAPERS FAVOR CONTEST The metroopoman newspapers would have you believe that the rural Democratic newspapers are against the contest now being proposed by the Legislature to determine who was elected Governor. The truth is that the Democratic newspapers of rural Missouri are practically unanim ous for the contest.

With the ex ception of a half dozen newspapers edited by Stark Democrats, all of the Democratic newspapers that have expressed an opinion are back of the State Democratic Committee and its Chairman, favoring a contest to see who was really elected Governor last November. Daily Capital News, Jefferson City. WHAT IT REALLY MEANS "Courthouse ring" is a term invented by the metropolitan press in an effort to turn the people of Missouri against the Democratic party. FAVORS IMPARTIAL RECOUNT We believe that there is serious doubt and question, in the minds of thousands of Missouri voters, as to who was legally elected, on Nov. 5, 1940, to serve as the next Governor of Missouri. We therefore believe that a fair and. impartial recount of all the votes cast for Governor in the last election should be made. This recount should include every ballot cast in the race for Governor.

The recount should be made by a bipartisan board, composed equally of Democrats and Republicans. No voters, and certainly the candidates Mr. Donnell and Mr. McDaniel, could object to the truth that such a fair recount of all the ballots would reveal. Bloom field Vindicator.

WE'LL BE THE FIRST We don't believe the Democratic leaders of this state are out to "steal the governorship from Donnell. The investigation will be carried on in an orderly manner and if and when it is completed the Democrats of the state will abide by the result. MISSOURI Over in Kansas the Republican governor was elected by a majority of only about 300 and this majority was determined by a Republican election commission and not a single Democrat had a word to say. AH these things will come to an end one of these days, and if the investigation of the election, honestly conducted as it very probably will be, discloses the fact that Forrest C.
