Waters and Dr. W. W. Waters. In 1893, his grandsons, Samuel A.

Waters, William W. Waters, John M. Waters and Richard J. Waters, were still living in New Madrid County. Robert G.

Watson went to New Madrid at approximately the time of the Louisiana purchase in 1803. Called the father of his country by people who knew him well, Mr. Watson was a charitable and energetic man and during the course I of his life amassed a large fortune. In a regrettable difficulty he was shot and killed on his farm two miles below Pt. Pleasant by Presley Phillips and son, Sullivan.
