The returns received from of the State, up to the hour ol' goitjg to press, are perhaps too meagre to enable us to safely predict the result as regards the Congressional I- -I vote. We think, however, that the Whig candidates. Bowie and Benhain. are elected liy a very handsome vote over the two Democratic tickets. The State Jvurnal thus announces the in a tone, it seems to us, somewhat triumphant; The agotjy is over.

The battle has heen lost, and the victory won The Whig Congressional ticket Is elected. The votes are not counted yet. nor are the estimated returns in. hut it is nevertheless certain that the Whigs have carried their and a sweeping on joint ballot in the The Journal, -however, claims that the Democrats will still have a majority in the Senate sufficiently large to secure the election of a Democrat to the U. S.

Senate. We give almost complete returns front this county, for which we are indebted to the industry of Ned Tracy, of Adams Express. It will he seen that Dr. jjates, Whig, is elected to the Assembly by a largo majority and that Win. Dalngerfield.

the Democratic candidate for District Judge, carried the county a still greater majority. From the returns already received, it is safe to say that Mr. D. will enter Butte with upwards of 700 majority, and is elected beyond all preadventure. Win.

S. Hughes, Democratic candidate for Assessor, and Wm. McGee, for Comity Surveyor, have also received handsome majorities over their con petitors. In Trinity the result is somewhat singula Congressional candidates and Mr. Daingerfield carrying the county by a majority of more than 300 votes; while the Whig candidates for Assembly, County Jmjge, Sheriff, and County Clerk, with the exception of the last named, are all electeil by large majorities.

So far, for District Judge, Daiugerfield, leads Hinckley, Whig, 329 vote? in this County; Bates, Whig, for Assembly, leads Hare, 173; Hughes, leadi Morehead, Whig, for Assessor, 153 and dc- Gee. leads Voshurg, Whig, Surveyor. 180. The official vote will scarcely vary 20 voles from these figures. Colusa Cong.ess Denver, 69; Herbert, 0 Bowie, 50; Denham, 52.

For Clerk Supreme 98; Leake, 81. For District 102 At precinct, the Democrats are reported to be 15 ahead. Trinity County. returns from jhis. County are neatly complete.

Miller's County 230 E. (W) Sheriff, 300 li. (IV.) County Clerk, All the outer County officers are elected front the Democratic party by a large majority. It is thought vote of the County will he about 1820. We gather the following election returns from the Marysville Hcralduf the Dili, and Sacramento Union pud Slate of the same date, furnished us by E.

W. Tracey, of Adams Express, at 0 o'clock vesterday morning, and about four hours ahead of t.he stage Yfb a For 580, Howie 585, Denver 357, Herbert 300, McDougal 216, Churchman 2 11, in the city of Marysville. None of the county precincts heard from. The entire Whig delegation to the Legislature, with the exception of Mr. Clayton, (Deni.) is supposed to be elected.

Also, the Senators for Yuba, and for Yuba and Sutter. Sacramento County. precincts heard from, four to hear from. (Jove is 175 ahead. The Assembly men in about the same propertion.

The city ticket not counted. Tits Democratic legislative ticket is elected. Placer County. We have returns but from fiva or six precincts in Placer County. For Congress the vote stands as follows: Denver, 192; Herbert, 192; Benlmm.3ll Churchman, 95; Latham, 80; McDougal, 173.

San Joaquin. 463; Henham, 461; Denver, 389; Herbert, 385; Mc- Dongal, 16; Churchman, 24; Beard, 467; 381 Woodside, 27. Senators Conu, 368; Bouhlin, 299; Wier, Assembly 515: Douglas, 156; Henry, 331 Stouimous, 301. 436; Bridges, 105. The Whig are elected.

McConu and Bonldin, from returns received, will run close in the The Democrats count on the election of Bonldin, with the aid of Contra Costa. Bridges is probably elected District Attorney by a small majority. Et. Among them are untold citizens, Messrs. Smith Bennett and David Calhoun. The latter gentleman left here Jast winter and has Returned with his family. To him we are indebted for the following interest ing information Mr. Conner, formerly of this place, and others, have gone in over Route to Miasta, in consequence of not having sufficient lorcelor protection against the Indians, ho are represented as numerous and hostile on the lakes.

Tile company who went from here had quite a skirmisli with them at Tulare Lake, killing one Indian, and were cut off and obliged to fall back on the main force under Captain Walker. They flien advanced on the Indians and drove them back into the Tuiares. It is believed by the force that Tipsy and his baud are amongst the Indians on the Lakes. There is now a sufficient force on the trail to protect the emigration and render safe and a company have gone on to the Humboldt tli apprise the emigration of this fact.
